Does it matter if LSU gets 2,3,4, or 5? I know it would determine which bracket if we get to Omaha, but aside from that is 3 that much better than 4 or 5?

Not really, since they don't seed the other 8 #1 seeds.

So the number 1 overall seed is no bigger advantage then the 8 seed?

just something to hang your hat on. you were the 3rd best team in the country rather than the 4th

Only in history (Top 3 national seeds make it to Omaha more than seeds 4-8 make it

However, I would rather be the #1 seed playing the #8 than the #4 having to play the #5. UCLA is ranked #8 right now with a record of 37-15 losses, while Virginia is #5 at 45-9.

The seeding is supposed to reward the best teams with the easiest schedule. Sometimes a #8 seed might have an absolute stud ace pitcher that nobody wants to face. Sometimes the #1 seed blows it in their regional and the #8 team gets an unexpectedly easy opponent. But on average, the higher your seed, the easier your path to the championship series.

Not for regionals and super regionals but once you get to Omaha I'd rather be the 1 seed or 2 seed playing the 8 or 7 seed instead of the 8 or 7 seed playing the 1 or 2 seed since the 1 and 2 seeds are better teams.

this is what it means...if we are 1 and they are 2 or vice versa you would be in different bracket...(better chance of making it to the finals)
problem is for TV ratings they generally put SEC teams all in the same bracket so they can have two different regions watching the finals...
