He has been extended invites for the Memorial and now the St. Jude Classic as well.

If his Masters invite annoyed some pros (which he duly earned)-what must they think of this?

If the kid can make the cut at the masters at 14, they have nothing to bitch about

Of course he deserves them. Who else is going to bring more attention to sponsors?

Not at all. If I was a tour player trying to get into events, I would be pissed. Of course If I was a tour player already IN the events, I would love it because thats one less player that I have to beat.

Bottom line is that the sponsors put up big $$$ to host these events and they have to the right to give its sponsors exemption to whomever they see fit.

No. Q School sends you to the nationwide. This is when fields are tough to get into, and you're giving a spot to someone who doesn't deserve it. If you don't get into the playoffs, you could be screwed. Every spot is important

Are players generally worried about the sponsor's exemption guys beating them? I mean, if they were that good they'd be in the tournament without an exemption, right?

The kid is 2 for 2 in making cuts. None of the pros griping are 100% in making the cut. I was excited to see him play in New Orleans, and I'm certain that other fans feel the same way.

Yeah, like John Daly and David Duval. If I were a current tour pro I'd just DQ myself from a tournament if I saw those 2 guys in the field.

If they had won anything recently they wouldn't need the sponsors exemption. I guess a better question would be when was the last time a sponsor's exemption won the tournament?

I am amazed that most people have zero clue what it is like being a tour pro when you're not ranked inside the top 100 in the world.

Do you know how many players in a given event have "won something recently" ??

Then please enlighten us. I'd love to hear why guys would be fearful of John Daly and David Duval but not this Asian kid who just made the cut at the Masters. After qualifying for a tournament that most of these tour pros outside the top 100 couldn't play in.

Recently as in the last 2 years or recently within the last 10 years? Because these former major winners you speak of havent won anything in that long.

So you are trying to say that this kid is better than Daly or Duval or Janzen other major champions looking for sponsors exemptions/monday four spotting ????

I think the only ones who would be mad are the fringe tour players. but they run into this all the time. remember tadd fujikawa? and he sucked compared to this kid. I say as long as he keeps throwing up respectable scores, let him play

He's an amateur so if these tournaments want to keep giving him exemptions then that's their prerogative. I have no problem with it. I am glad he was given an exemption to the Zurich because I got to see him in person.

I would feel differently if he were a Pro.
