I was just watching LSU v Bama 1992 and didn't realize the eye was used back then. I know LSU went away from that mid field design in the late 90's- early 00's.

Does anyone know the exact or approximate year it was first used, removed, then brought back?

TIA

I was thinking earlier today about the Florida game in '09 when the Florida team stomped on the eye before the game.

Tiger Stadium got loud real quick.

Anyway, sorry for the hijack.

Carry on.

I'm not sure as far as your questions, but didn't we have the Tiger Eye in 01 for Auburn to stomp on(and then lose)

LSU used the tiger eye logo in 1992? That's news to me.

According to this article, it started in 83, removed in late 80s and didn't return till Saban

LINK

I know that's false bc I just saw a u tube video of home games in 92 and 93 with the eye

The article is incorrect. 82 was the first year of the Eye. It was Broadhead's doing. DiNardo and his amazing performing Ego, removed it during their tenure. Saban brought it back and it will stay. The current EYE is a little too small and a few of the painting details are not being done properly, but it's still the most creative mid-field logo in college football.

For it to be painted free hand every game I think Eric doesn't a damn good job.
I'm actually thinking about putting it on my concrete at the front of my driveway

Actually, Curley Hallman brought the EYE back after a few years of hiatus. Then when Coach Dinardo came into the fold, he and Herb decided to let go of the past losing symbols, calling it "Curley's Eye".

Saban was right to bring it back, as was Dinardo for bringing back the white jersey for home games.

I know Herb can be very tone deaf at times but please tell me he wasn't anywhere near that stupid to want to get rid of the eye?

Did y'all know that the eye is hand painted before every home game? It's not stenciled like most people's midfield logo.

Just thought that was a pretty cool fact.

Can you imagine the outcry the night we walk into Tiger Stadium for the first game of the year, and the Eye is not there? That might crash the server.

It is stenciled for the first game and then just painted over for the rest.
