I think unless you bought a game from the store. There's at least a paper trail there.

Yeah. I've never bought digital copies of my games so I'm SOL on that.

I have a couple but they aren't world beaters. I might need to buy some games that I've been meaning to get digitally.

The BC rumor was the only thing getting me pumped for the next gen.

Now I'm just like, "cool features, bro. . .which of these can my PC not do."

I was the drum major for the consoles on this board upon hearing that rumor. Now I'm on team meh.

BC would be nice, but its not surprising that the new consoles will not have it.

I get why they aren't doing it. Architecture and marketing.

Then they will cease support of the 360 and make you buy the games again, digitally.

yet another complaint against XBox One and/or PS4 I just don't get....

I mean, yes, the first year it sucks the games I buy for my Xbox 360 late 2013 I can't play on the Xbox One. But after about a year, who gives a frick?

has anyone tried playing GTA San Andreas or Vice City on their PS3 or 360? The graphics don't scale up, so they fricking suck.

if you really really want to play the older games why not just keep te older system plugged up?

I don't get it

This statement is fricktarded.

Did you think the graphics were going to be better than was coded on the discs?

I played FF7 the other day and laughed. I forgot what PS1 looked like.

ETA: I don't see the jump from this gen to the next to be as obvious as the previous gens

I look past graphics, when the game is great.

I'd rather play an awesome game with dated graphics, than a shitty game with awesome graphics.

Pays $400+ for a brand new next gen console to play previous gen games

Seems legit

I mean...as a PC gamer, you pay quite a bit more for next gen graphics expecting to play any previously released game.

PC is backwards compatible with every older generation from every console.

But emulators can be a little buggy

edit: before someone says it, I'm considering halo at 10 fps close enough because I like the hyperbole

All of this.

I feel bad for people who are so obsessed with graphics that it keeps them from experiencing a game. A few of my friends fall into this category.

Why isn't this said everywhere online? It's not like my 360 will self destruct when I put my new Xbox next to it.

There is a threshold, though... I'm getting spoiled. I acquired a copy of oblivion for PC the other day and didn't really get into it because of the graphics

But on topic. Already been said basically, but perhaps the companies assume that customers either have the older gen console already, or it's their first console of that brand and have no desire to play older gen games. So there's no reason to encourage any further hard copy sales of older gen games (likely used) that give the companies zero dollars.

Such a dumb move. I understand they want people to buy current gen games and not stick with their older games. But one of the main reasons the PS2 was so popular was everyone did not have to ditch their PS1 collection, or keep an old PS1 hooked up. And for people like myself who never had a PS1, I could go back and pick up old PS1 games.
