Why would God intervene in any situation where people don't believe in Him?

Would you?

Yes.

Sorry for not being a narcissist

Because he supposedly loves everyone. Are you presuming he's a selfish prick?
quote:

Would you?

Are you comparing the almighty Lord's handling of a situation to that of a human? Blasphemy!

Lucky for you you weren't born in the Middle East, then you'd be a hardcore Muslim

So there aren't any who have converted to Christianity from the Middle East? Wow. I am sure I have heard of Christians being persecuted in the Middle East. I guess they are ALL transplants.

Considering the vast majority are muslim, odds are you would have been too. And based on your strict religious adherence, likely would have violently rebelled against anyone who spoke ill of the Muslim god.

You know, if I'm ever in a situation where I can save someone's life, I don't think that I will make my actions contingent on the person I am rescuing acknowledging that I am rescuing him or her.

How would you know they needed saving unless they cried for help?

I wouldn't.

What I'm saying is that after hearing someone cry, "someone help me!", I wouldn't just stand there and say, "You have to ask me, ZereauxSum, specifically".

"Oh, and you have to give me unending praise and worship while I'm saving your life".

Maybe so, or maybe there would have been a good Christian missionary that would have shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with me, and I would have made the same decision I've already made. Only God knows.

Unlikely based on your lack of openness to other beliefs, much less to alternative interpretations of the same text.

In other words, you're done thinking.

So is everything that happens truly God's will? Is my decision to think, and come to the conclusion that there probably isn't a god also god's will? Is it possible for God's will to not be done? So then every single child that suffers is all a part of his master plan? Including natural disasters that destroy lives and faiths?

In the words of Ivan from Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov, I hasten to give back my entrance ticket, and if I'm an honest man I am bound to do so. I most respectfully return him the ticket.

So is that the answer to why a guy was run over, decapitated and disemboweled yesterday? That he was "just passing through"?

I have no idea what you are referring to.

Don't hate on Wolf though, he's been senile for about a decade now, he's kind of the new Larry King.

Odd that he would have made humans so imperfect when he could have just kept all of the souls with him in the first place. But at least he had the attention to detail to create the entire universe and cosmos even though the only entities that matter are on a grain of sand sized planet in said universe.

Not odd that he would give us the choice to freely love him or reject him.

I don't know if people are hating on him (maybe in the beginning of the thread). He just sounded like such a clown in that clip.

I thought it was awesome how awkward that became

No. My thinking process has changed from what pleases me to what pleases God.

Just as Paul writes about, it is a race. Heaven is the finish line for me. God has a perfect plan for me but He has also given me the free will to choose what path I take. And if I take the wrong path and don't finish the race is it God's will that I took the wrong path?

Yikes, hopefully he doesn't decide to test you like he tested Abraham. For your child's sake at least.

Heaven is the finish line for me.

According to the Pope, me too! I'll see you there, along with all of the evil gay people and people from other religions.

You sound delusional.

I am only pointing out some of the tone or attitude that is being communicated..

When you have scriptures, apparently you don't even have to begin thinking.

That might be the way some people feel, but the majority of non-believers don't believe because the story makes no sense.

And you can't just say, "it's all in the bible" because the bible's credibility is derived from the same story that makes no sense.

When I used to go to church regularly, I used to ask questions that got the standard "textbook" bible verse answers. Then I started asking deeper questions and started getting answers like, "you just need to be prayerful and then god will show you his plan"

What kind of fortune cookie nonsense is that? I'm actively looking for a reason to believe this stuff and the good lord has his out-of-office reply on?

If salvation is dependent on some entity who's ego is so fragile that it has to be constantly stroked by everyone on the planet, yet he doesn't ever have the time to answer a couple of simple questions, then yeah, there are going to be a lot of people burning in the afterlife.

But like I said, I don't believe the story. That's why non-believers don't believe.

So why would He need to answer your questions, if truly you don't believe? You first say you are looking for a reason to believe and then you say you don't believe.

This is what I can't understand about unbelievers. You want something (God), which you don't believe in, to answer your questions? And you say we don't make sense.
