It is a lateral move, but Coach Kirby gets some leeway since he is a Memphis native. It will be a lot worse if he jumps to another assistant job in a few years. Best of luck to Coach Kirby.

There are family issues involved as well. His sister, from what I have been told, has some health issues and he would like to be closer to family.

Did he? How much was he a part of the recruitment? His area as I understood it was Memphis, Miss. and the East coast. We got two players from Baton Rouge, one from Australia, two from Texas, and one from Georgia. Which players did he have primary recruiting responsiblity for?

Can't blame the guy - he wants to go home. Bob Huggins did it too. It happens. No big deal.

Perhaps this is why Corban was/is apparently considering moving on too?

Coach Kirby is a great guy, passionate about basketball , I wish him him luck as he returns home.
