SEC schedule argument...
Posted by toughcrittercrumb on 5/20/13 at 9:14 pm23
Some people say just beat the teams on you schedule and you dont have anything to cry about. I wouldn't mind LSU playing UF, USC, and UGA if the other teams that are contending for the SEC champion play them too. But if the SEC champion is suppose to be the best team in the league than they should have had to face the same rigorous schedule as their biggest in conference challenger. Apples to apples. Oranges to oranges.

LSU was the first school in the SEC to play overseas when we played Havana, Cuba. I think we should play Germany.

I know it has been said but the national media keeps bringing it up. Most make it seem like there isn't an issue. But if two top rated schools are competing for the same conference crown, their in conference opponents should be relatively the same. One year of this is ok, but back to back seasons like this is just too much.

Scheduling is never fair. Hell we have to worry about Ohio State and Someone from the PAC 2 or Big 2. Things will even out in the SEC. Those other conferences will just have one team that has to get up for 2 or 3 games. Bitch about that instead

Last year there was a big three in the east and west that ALL went 1-1 against each other in divisional play.
West: LSU A&M BAMA
East: UF UGA SC
Guess what the two teams playing for the championship and spot in BCS national title game had in common? They were the ONLY two that didn't play a single of the big three from the other Division. Oh and they were scheduled to play but conveniently gave up there game so BAMA could welcome Missouri to the SEC.
LSU will have to tie bama in the west and sweep UF and UGA to have a "chance" to go to SEC championship next season.

The NFL agrees. Go hunting on Saturday, watch football on Sunday. Problem solved.

I agree with you, just as I have the 757,894,267,985 other threads that have said the EXACT SAME THING.

Let me say the same thing that's been said just a different way...

The problem is that some of the power teams shift from year to year.
Tenn was really good in the 90's, but have struggled as of late to be consistent. Look at Auburn. Not very good in 2009, win with Cam in 2010, and got progressively worse the years following..
Essentially the only way to make it work would be to create a seeding system for cross divisional games based on the previous years finishing rank. Yet this would never happen.
The natural attrition in football would also make this arbitrary for some teams. See the Auburn example.
