Its all very close in my spreadsheet. After Vandy, you could take teams 2-6 and pull them out of a hat, and it'd be hard to argue definitively for any of them

Isn't that the game being played because of a rainout earlier, they replaced their rainouts with a nonconference game between them a couple weeks ago

Yea I'm fine with UNC being top 5 but not top 3 damn sure not 2 rite after they lost to a top 5 team UVA should be ahead. I'd be completely shocked if the averages of the polls didn't have lsu at 2 and UNC no higher than 4. Considering LSU, CSFU, Oregon St and UVA all won weekend series against top 20/25 teams

I'm sure it will turn out that way as well, I'm just not in the habit of letting others polls effect mine

I'm not saying it should affect you but recent wins and losses should affect a poll and UNC recently hasn't been performing like a top 3 team for almost the last month. But hey thanks 4 partcipating I know it's tough to make a poll every week and I appreciate the debate arguments for both views

Not a prob, I don't mind defending my poll. Recent wins/losses effect my poll if a team has lost a bunch in a row, or a team is on a good streak, while UNC has been down for a couple weeks, it hasn't been to the point of it effecting their ranking

example of something that would effect it, would be like 2-8 or 3-7 in last 10

To summarize, the main reasons why UNC is higher, decent difference in RPI, big difference in SOS, and big difference in MOV (5 of 8 losses by 1 run)

Lsu has lost by 28 compared to UNC 18 that's a little more than 1 more run per loss. Vandy has lost by 19 fwiw with one less loss than the other two

I know I am going to catch some shite for this but here we go.

I used excel to and compared stats and records for 34 teams. Ranked them according to Wins, Losses, Win %, Hits, Batting Avg, ERA, and WHIP.

The team with the lowest average ranking of all these categories was ranked at the top.

I did not pick stats that made LSU come out ahead, these are just two stats from both hitting and pitching that I believe to be the most important.

For Campbell, Cal Poly, and Mercer, I multiplied their overall rank by 1.6 due to the strength of schedule

Cool, i personally feel like obp or ops would have been better stats for hitting purposes, but to each his own, glad someone found a different criteria

Yeah I can improve on hitting most likely (will work towards something for next season) but I like this style of system

Inputting data sucks though

I feel like taking three rankings from overall record puts an emphasis on winning ball games in general

ETA: after looking at numbers, I feel that ULL needs to make an appearance in the Top 25 this week. Their offense has been EXPLOSIVE!

62 Homeruns on the season (ranked 1st)
1.19 HR/G (ranked 1st)
602 Hits on the season (ranked 7th last week in NCAA, 4th this week from the 34 teams I compared)

We tend to be harder on LSU because we watch them every game. Do we really know how effective CSF's #2 and #3 starters have been in every game for the last month? We see the results, and we know if they won or not, but we don't scrutinize them like we do LSU. The only possible knock on LSU right now is that Eades wasn't as effective in his last start, and last year he tired down the stretch. So as Tiger fans, this is a concern for us. How bout looking at LSU like this? How many teams in the country can play their backups, even use a pitcher at 2nd base, and still knock one of the best pitchers in the nation out of the game by the 4th inning?

I have not ranked LSU number one since the USC series, and have had them at number 3 for the last several polls, but if I had to put money on it, I'd put my money down on LSU winning it all. I have a feeling that this team will score plenty of runs in the post season, as long as Mainieri doesn't keep Stevenson in the lineup. His defense isn't that big of a difference to compensate for the 4 at bats a game that he has at the plate.

Finally. Last weekend was the most boring, unenthusiastic, lackluster, no excitement, dull as watching the paint dry SEC weekend ever. Something was missing from the Tigers last weekend. I can't quite put my finger on it, but they just were lacking a certain amount of swag, especially in the infield. It was as if we were watching the Heat play minus Lebron James. I wish I could figure it out.
