Always fished plastic, and the times i did use shrimp never got that much action to justify. so anyhow it looks like shrimp are the ticket.

so i'll probably be buying about 100. what is the cost per, size of container needed, aeration, and does putting a net for them to cling on help???

TIA

They are running about $0.33-0.40 per skrimp depending where you are. Container size really doesn't matter much as long as they have enough space to move around. Aeration is a must and even with a portable aerator, I tend to see them dying if left overnight. Maybe I just have always gotten bitch shrimp though

Couple quick tips:
Whatever you do do not get sunscreen or sunscreen residue in your bait well.
Freeze a couple water bottles the night before and when it starts getting warm put those in the tank
Use a bait net, avoid putting your hands in the bucket

Fuking joke that you have to use live shrimp to catch a fish. Learn to fish man, find your own fish that don't have yahoos all over them throwing live bait. Relish the challenge, don't dumb it down like the sheep.

Bring a couple of empty milk jugs out with you the next time you go fishing. Fill them with some good gulf water. Bring them home and freeze them. Next time you go out , open the cap and stick the jug into your live well. Cooler water holds more dissolved oxygen. Don't get tap water or sun screen in your bait well. Clean it after your trips and rinse it well. Some people put a piece of smushed window screen in their wells. It is supposed to give the shrimp something to grab onto during bumpy rides. Most important thing is to not put bad water from the marina area or river(when it's high) into your live well. Wait until you motor out into clean salty water before you put water into the well.

lighten up i've fished plastic about 95% of the time. the problem is when you drive 2.45 hours to the launch, then another xx minutes to the spot, it's nice to have an option of live or plastic. Lot of time and money wasted just because you were too cheap to buy $30 of shrimp.

my old spots, not washed away along the coast, never needed any live. we murdered them on plastics. times change.....
