Funny little tidbit if ya watch the movie cocktail with tom cruise, when he gets off the bus and goes into his uncles bar, look at the TV, its LSU playing and they are showing Sammy Martin's name. Anyone remember back in 80's when I think it was wfmf radio station did the song dedications at 9 or 10pm? Man I was all excited I got through and it was a Saturday night after Sammy had a really great game and I wanted to dedicate a song to my girlfriend and her name was sandy martin. Needless to say I think I cursed that dude out.

Was that the game where the Aggie split his forehead open (Roper maybe?) and it spewed blood like a guyser?

And how do you win the SEC and lose to Miami Of Ohio?
At home ?

It was also the year my hatred for Ole Miss was cemented.

Thanks OP! Great stuff. Some random stuff, Roper split head in 87 game in college station, Hodson first game played and he and Davis were mostly unknowns. A&M was I think 5 pt favorite and game was closer than 35-17 score. Also we had week off and then lost to Miami Ohio next time out. IMHO 86 was best team of any 80s or 90s. Home loss to ole piss was after great kicker (bdyke) missed 34 yard fg and Rebs best player who scored winning td and broke like 5 tackles was declared in eligible at seasons end and they got probation...he never shud have been on field

A watershed moment in my life. My parents were too cheap to get cable. My father (a UGA fan) walked in on me in my bedroom and caught me listening to WWL. I couldn't hide it. I was outed. It was at that moment he realized I was born like this, and that its not a "choice". We still talk, although, he doesn't agree with my lifestyle.

It's funny watching how the fooball players celebrated big plays and touchdowns back then.

Lots of index finger pointing to the air over and over again.

Sometimes he would run 20 yards to make 10, he would zigzag all over the field
