re: EBR shelter euthanizes dog after owner arrives to pick it up

someone showed me the other day that they anchor any thread that paints police in a negative light.
Also religious threads... tolerated, unless from a non-believer.

Hold on, they're really doing this now? If stuff like this really starts I'm jumping ship for reddit

re: EBR shelter euthanizes dog after owner arrives to pick it up

I looked and saw this was a topic of interest. I clicked and saw the story I put in quotes was edited when I was offline.
I clearly remember chicken saying to make all posts like news subjects, and to credit the author, but "don't just post a link" most people hate clicking, so I always post a summary, in this case I quoted, and gave credit to the author.

It was changed by an admin at 11:11pm last night to just the picture and a link.

This is silly, as is the anchoring of threads that just aren't liked, yet follow guidelines.

If you're cash only in today's economy then something shady is going on there. Processing companies give away the machines and waive merchant account fees just to get 1.5%.

Businesses can and do pit these companies against each other to give up a few basis points to get the contract.

right, I hate when people don't take credit. I have a small business. I just raised all of my prices by a measly 2% and offset the credit merchant prices. I think I pay .56% now if I swipe and 1.25% if I have to take it over the phone or they pay online

Not necessarily. A good attorney should be able to get them intentional infliction of emotional distress damages, which can get really high (and should for this story)

It's a city service though, not a private business.

I prefer dogs, but I'd rather have a cat than a shite eating ankle biter.

don't be so dramatic. think about it: people who go into a pound may be in an excited emotional state who, if their card doesn't work for whatever reason, would blame the pound for not being able to process their payment and make some really unreasonable demands. by being cash only, the onus belongs solely to the customer seeking the return of their impounded pet, saving the pound staff from some nasty situations.

i, too, hate it when places don't take cards, though.

this story is the saddest thing i've heard all day.

Well you can take comfort in the fact that it's 10 days old. The dog's long gone.
