So precision wouldn't sell me any ammo

The other day when I was shooting at precision with my lady friend (under 21), I went to the counter to grab some more .45 ammo. The guy refused to sell it to me because I was with someone under 21.
Has this always been a rule there, or is it a law?
Kind of took me by surprise.

Other than their PMAGs/AR stuff being way over priced, I haven't had any problems with them til now.

Jim's is just a store, no range and they would have to actually talk to you to tell you that you couldn't shoot your sks.
