Still excited to see it, but the speech is pretty campy.

Are you talking about Elba's speech? If so then I would literally slap you IRL for that comment.

You don't suck, at least not for that. I definitely don't get where all the hype is coming from on this one. First half of the first trailer I saw looked awesome, and then it turned into Rock'em Sock'em Robot part 2: Realer Steal.

I'm not sure how I feel about it now. I thought when I saw the first previews that it had serious potential. Now it's like they've gone overboard with the Reel Steel type shite.

I'm sure I'll still watch it, but I'm a little less optimistic than I was initially.

I'm sorry, this looks just awful. And this is from a person who actually enjoyed Independence Day and Transformers for what they were -- fun movies with crappy acting and dialogue. (ok, ID Day actually had semi-decent acting).

But this Pacific Rim trailer... does not make me want to go watch it in the theater. Definitely a "wait to watch it at home" movie.

Del Toro fanboys are going nuts over it, and as fan myself, this does absolutely nothing for me. He's a great director but after Hellboy 2 and a string of shite movies with his name attached, I wonder if he's at all interested in making more thoughtful movies like Pan's Labyrinth and Cronos.

I think most are saying it looks great simply out of loyalty.

This. I'm a Del Toro fan, but he has kinda lost me with this movie. The more I see of its, the less interested I am. The only reason I think he even made this movie was so that he could put some of his monster creations on screen.

Really, if you look at the movies that he himself as directed, outside of Pan's Labyrinth, they really aren't anything special.

There is also The Devil's Backbone, too. I kinda don't put comic book movies on the same level as the others though.

I will say, Hellboy 2 was visually beautiful, and I'm pretty sure he designed most of the characters.
