Size down low is overrated these days anyway. The game has been going in another direction in the post as far as banging with 250+ lb guys anyway.

I think he could probably put 20-30 pounds on in a few years anyway.

And he's been in a cast, he probably has lost a good bit of muscle weight in the past few months just sitting around.

How long is a few years? Brandan Wright took 4 years and 3 different teams before he could bang down low.

206 is small

But like I said, a well conditioned guy lifting everyday and working out everyday can lose a lot of weight FAST going to just sitting on the couch all day everyday after he gets hurt

6-8 months back in a gym working hard and he could get 10-15 pounds back of that in a flash

He looks like has the frame for it

Great Frame.

Yeah, but how do you hide him on the court during the 3 year period he's attempting to gain 30lbs? He'll get abused? No?

You're underestimating how hard it is for lifelong rail thin guys to put on weight. Look at Davis. The team's HOPING he can put on 7-8 pounds during the offseason.

Its gonna be years before Davis can legitimately bang down low. Looks like Noel is even farther away than Davis. Davis is a stick figure and he's got 20 pounds on Noel? Thats a problem

The numbers just reinforce my worries about Noel. I just think he is too thin, especially for a team that already has Davis. Noel may be a good player, I just see him as a bad fit for the Pels.

I like Porter's wingspan. Burke is still a little short, but not quite as bad as I expected. Oladipo a little smaller than expected. Right now I'd like McLemore, Porter, or Burke. If the Pels get screwed in the lotto or trade back a little maybe look at Gobert.

If I read the article correctly, monty is afraid that if he puts too much weight on davis he'll have a greater risk of injury. He is trying to string davis along steadily, not that he couldn't put the weight on.

Is that kareem? Or

Noel doesn't have elite lwngth like he did.

So it would be the same deal with Noel who's already coming off an acl

Noel doesn't have ANYTHING Kareem had.

206 is in no way his playing weight, so I don't see this being a very big deal. I'm sure if he was healthy he'd be hovering around 220 which is fine at this stage. Yeah, he still needs to add some pounds like Davis but it isn't like he can't get on the court and be effective.

Also, Larrry Sanders weighed 222 predraft and just had a great year in his 3rd season. Some people apparently think that is too long to wait but I have no idea why. We're hoping to contend for a playoff spot next year at best so we aren't competing for anything serious for at least 3 years.

Did you really just make that comparison? Noel got compared to KAJ and DH all in one night.

Because Benson is old and wants to see the team win before he dies. He allegedly told ticket reps the best way to sell tickets is to win more games, and at the new building hard hat presser a few days ago he said something along the same lines and was looking to put Monty on the spot but Monty wasn't with them any more. Hopefully Demps can temper Benson's enthusiasm and only make smart moves, but Benson wants to win now, not 3 years from now.

He's not KAJ at all.

I still think the DH comparison is a decent one. Sub 7 footer who defends and rebounds but is limited on offense.

I think you're right. I don't think they'll do anything dumb, but they definitely want to win sooner rather than later. Look this fanbase has had to deal with bullshite for 4 or 5 years now (actually longer if you think about it). It's time to have something to cheer about during
the season.

Nice McNamara recap of day 1. Bullet Points:

* Oladipo measured out like DWade therefore...
* Burke measured bigger than expected and bigger and heavier than CP3 coming out of college. Good agility drills could push him top 3.
* Otto Porter was really skinny. 30 pounds lighter than Granger coming out of college and closer to Corey Brewer who took time to adjust to the league because of being a lightweight.
* Shabazz' measurements are most similar to guys that play SG, not SF
* Gobert moved into top 10 with measurements and good agility drills would put him top 7

quote:

- As of today, I believe the Pelicans Big Board goes: Noel, McLemore, Oladipo, Porter, Len, Burke, Saric, Gobert. Barring somebody coming out of nowhere in individual workouts, it will be one of those guys or a trade. My money has been on Oladipo for over a month now. That could change, however, depending on the results of the lottery on Tuesday.
