Does a person need a Yak or boat to effectively fish Grand Isle?

If a person drives down to Grand Isle to go fishing, will a Kayak greatly improve their chances? Or is surf fishing the best method?

I have never been down there without a boat, but wanted to try and wade fish it or buy a Kayak if necessary.

I see people fishing on the side of the road all the time, but rarely catching. Do people go to a particular place or is anywhere down there good?

I have been told about several places, but I am unsure how to proceed (wading or Yacking).

TIA.

I knew that would come up. Not my toes (I took the pic). I will never own a pair of chacos, but to each their own.

Or on the bridge at night under the lights. Be prepared with 50lb test and a large crab net to pull in the bull reds

Well...it could be that we just have better fisherman here.

There's no doubt the Gulf is more productive than Nth east Fl. waterways.

I'm 120 miles from the Gulf and 17 from the intercelestial waterway and ocean, with the St. Johns River running right through the middle of my home town. I'm doin OK.

I have caught quite a few limits without a boat or kayak in Grand Isle. I have more success in the surf than i do on the side of the road, but fish can be caught all over. It is nice to have a boat though. This time of year there are usually a lot of decent trout around the rock jetties in the surf. Get some live bait and try it out.
