What line do you use and why?

I use 15 lb P-Line with a 30 lb leader.

I'm about to get my gear ready for this season, and would like to know what yall find works best.

Thanks in advance.

Why braid, and why 30#?

Just curious. I've never fished braid, and 30# seems excessive.

14# Mono. Usually have a fluoro leader.

Tried braid several times and just don't like it!

Not sure I would either.

I like the castability and distance with the P-Line, and the flourocarbon leader allows for stretch and resistance to cutting. But, I only use about a foot, because I don't want the weight of the leader to significantly affect the lure's workability.

15# yozuri hybrid

best line ever ..
stronger than 15# big game with no memory...

you can stretch it one time and it will lay as flat as the day you spool. Ive got a couple of bait casters that have had the same line for 5yrs and still cast great an is stong as hell

#30 braid is excessive, but the diameter of the line is much smaller than mono, so alot of people choose to use the higher strength braid. Good thing about that as long as your knots are tied well, break-off's will be a thing of the past; bad news is that hang up's will leave you cursing. . .

Personally, I have my son's rig setup with 20# braid so that in case his drag is set incorrectly, he won't lose the fish. For my rigs, I use 10# braid, which is more than enough for most of what I fish for. I have a length of 20# mono tied as a leader so that the braid doesn't get caught around the lures/corks.

Braid with 15# leader. Better feel, longer casts, stronger.

Looks like I may have to try it. And maybe the Yozuri, too.

Why only 15# leader?

That seems a little low. Do you mean flourocarbon 15?

#30 power pro. If I feel like it I will occasionally use #20 mono leader.

Braid. on one of my rods I tied a 30# flouro leader just to see if it makes a difference. haven't noticed any real difference and so the leader will likely go when I retie.

Thanks for all the replies.

Definitely will try braid.

If I were only interested in trout, and not concerned
about losing a bull red or spinner, would that change
anyone's opinion on # test?

14-15# IMO. I can absolutely SLING the shite out of some baits with the braid and like others have said, I'm never concerned about breaking off. Also, if I get hung up on something in or out the water, I'm dragging the boat way before it pops.
