Or the industrial size shop fans that drown out any conversation.

Anyway, my personal opinion was/is its just as hot there during the summer, day or night, as it is here, and certainly not enough to explain the lack of patios here and proliferation of them there. (For shits and giggles, I googled and this link kind of back's up that assertion. More humid, but not a material difference). TigerWise's story makes sense to me.

Yeah. Dang. Didn't spend a lot of time in Houston. Mostly Dallas. Dallas Vs Houston Heat/Humidity

It probably is a smoking thing.

I can remember when the restaurants in BR moved to the smoking outside policy. Completely changed smokers/drinkers choice for watering holes and hang outs.

Dallas I can totally see your point. I mean it snows there and stuff.

I second Tracey's and Bulldog as I've enjoyed day drinking at both. If I could move to NOLA and live in that area, my life would be complete

A little off topic, but what's the rent breakdown for a decent place in Uptown/GD? Could you find a 1 BR for under $1000 or a 3 BR for $2100?

Went to ave pub. Perfect. I like to start my day around 11:00 so it worked out great. Being from BR, I would always go to chimes east every Monday after class (around 11:00am) and have a few pints-o-Guinness. Since moving to Nola I've been in search of a true regular spot during th day. Still going to check out fat harry's, kingpin. Thanks for the recs

I bet some of it has to do with lots of the NIMBY folks in New Orleans probably will fight often and dirty to keep bars from having patios/decks/outdoor seating. They will say it has something to do with the noise levels in their neighborhoods.

Just a guess.
I thought one of the newly rennovated places(Fat Harry's maybe) got into a pissing match with someone living nearby about possible out door seating or something silly like that.

Best bar for craft beer in NOLA hands down. If you stay till 4 that's when happy hour starts ($2 off all craft pints). Fat's is solid too, they just redid the place following a fire a few months ago.

Try for maybe best in the southeast part of the country.

Seriously, show up there at 2:00 this Saturday for some real fun.

I've been eyeing for awhile. Just like anywhere else if you get a 1 BR you will get hammered. I've found what I consider to be decent places (both location and appearance) uptown have been in the $1000-$1350 range for 1 BR. If you scale it up to 3 BR you can get a lot more bang for your buck, its a lot more wide ranging. There was a beautiful townhome about around the previously mentioned Aline St Pub that 3 BR for $2400, and it had a fricking POOL and a side patio. Unreal.

Does anyone know if they still have any early tickets for the Saturday function? I forgot to stop by last night.

If you look you can. I pay less than 1000 for a one bedroom. Of course I to live next to bum on one side and next to piss on the other. Their really not that bad if neighbors once you get to know them. I've also been shot 6 times, but I'm just like 2pac

Naw it was when they wanted to put a roof deck on the old Copelands and the people next door bitched. I have a bit of empathy for that, but I don't think you'd get a terrible amount of pushback on a commercial strip like Magazine.

Tough to find a 1BR for $1000 or less but it can be done. I lived in the LGD for a grand in a decent sized 1BR before moving to the GD. Right now live in a shotgun split w/ my gf paying $1200.

I'm glad I'm not being outlandish with those numbers as I'm intending to use them in a salary/comp discussion in about 3 hours.

I live on one side of a double shotgun. I guess it could be two bedrooms, but we only need and use one. We pay $1000/month. Central air, W/D. Private backyard. House is old and leaks like a sieve, but the house is in good condition. I'm really far Uptown, though. About as up as you can get without being in JP. Low crime in my direct vicinity. Across Carrollton from me is a different story.
