One of my colleagues cannot drive past a stray dog and picked this one up about a month ago. She has 5 dogs at home and could not keep another one so I agreed to foster the guy until she could find a home for him. Well, it has been nearly 6 weeks and no luck so I am looking to the OB as a last resort. He was picked up on the side of LA71 near US190 and we have him at our home in BR.

He is about 2 years old, a lab/hound mix, really friendly, gets along with other dogs and is housebroken. I have taken him to the vet and he has received all his shots and is chipped. He has a minor case of heartworms, but is on treatment and should be just fine. I am taking him in to be neutered this week. He will make someone a great companion and would be the perfect farm dog. We already have two dogs and cannot keep him much longer, so we may need to take him to the pound, which is something we hope to avoid (especially after investing so much at the vet). If anyone is interested, I would be glad to share my email address so I can provide additional details.

If let loose to roam about 40 acres, you think he would stick around? Last stray dog I got for my parents took off after about 2 weeks off the leash.

here is a plan..

1. cut one of his front legs off

2. someone will adopt him in a heartbeat because people love three legged dogs

3. ????

4. profit

He loves attention but does fine all day in the fenced yard (we bring him in at night). He escaped from the yard once through a hole in the chain link fence but just came around to the carport and waited for us to let him in. He quickly bonded with us and I imagine the same would happen with any future owners. I think he is best suited for a farm, etc where he could roam a bit but would probably not go far...not sure how he ended up along LA71...someone just left him on the side of the road?

Back leg would be better. Knew a border collie that was faster than most four legged ones.

Great looking dog I'm sure you'll be able to find somebody to take him.

We have one full border and a partial border that was a rescue...black and white streaks!
