I think the Pinto Bean thread was a bit too much.

Along with the burger thread.

But I like when people do pictures, so I don't have a problem with him at all. I just don't think all of his threads are jaw dropping, opening himself up to criticism.

I think some people take it too far, but that's their prerogative IMO.

I appreciate the guy's passion, and think he's one of the good guys. Everyone is on different levels of cooking, and some more experienced in some things than others. At the end of the day though, I love food, and I think that's something everyone should rally around, people who take a real interest in it.

From reading his posts, I've derived that he was a chemist and has since retired and loves cooking. He sees cooking as awfully similar to chemistry in some ways.

The man loves to cook and loves to show what he cooks. I think all of his food looks really good, but I'm no chef.

to you, MD

I think that is part of why some people don't like his threads. Also the frequency of them. I like to browse the picture threads, more so when it is someone showing how they made something that is more than an egg and rice.

Some of you assholes are miserable people. God forbid someone take pictures of food and put them on a food board. It's not like the FB gets so much traffic that he's bumping great threads off the first page. But, I forgot some of you argue over k-cups. Assholes. Keep'em coming MD.

And quite honestly I don't think it is fair to single people out. There is a lot of that that goes on here, making things personal, and that serves this board much less than a guy who loves cooking like MD obviously does.

MD absolutely makes this board better. An average guy having fun and posting pics (which we all like to look at).

His recipes are easy to follow, tasty looking, and something the average board poster could come home and cook.

You can't open yourself up just for positive critiques.

I appreciate that he creates new content for this board. I'm lazy and just like to comment for the most part, but he starts conversations and does it with an original style.

I figured we were all home cooks here for the most part. I like seeing what he does with the same sorts of ingredients I have on hand.

This thread comes close to breaking a fundamental TD rule of not calling other posters out. This board, at least, should be free of that kind of OT BS. We're all more civilized here.

He's no Harold McGee, but that doesn't matter. If I needed advice on how to properly prepare a torchon of foie gras for instance, I probably wouldn't turn to a casual food forum on the internet based out of Baton Rouge. Just saying. I'm not the biggest fan of canned beans, but I'm also not going to try to make a fool of him anonymously on the internet for talking about his food.

Posters are called out on this board more than any other board. R2R was called out last week for far less.

But not all of us assholes are miserable.

MD takes little jabs at himself, mainly because he knows it gets to nerves of some on here...I find it absolutely delightful that for all his lowbrowedness, some of the most negative and refined have not figured it out yet.

R2R enjoys being called out, it's a hobby for him. MD is just a country boy who likes to cook and post pics of meals that most anyone can do. He enjoys himself and I enjoy his posts, and yard pics.

Yeah, the one post every 3-4 days is out of control. What does he think this place is? A message board? We need more threads about where to eat in NYC, San Fran, etc.

He's had some posts for comedic reasons (I'd guess) but he's made some good looking dishes. The tika masala one comes to mind.

And there's nothing wrong with critiquing. But some people are just negative with every post.

Anyone who puts cream in coffee loses their right to comment on coffee quality. It is the same as someone talking about good whiskey while pouring a bit of cola into it.
