Md has no doubt benefited from extensive formal training. Eg his coleslaw. Haha I like your posts too md.

Is this a serious question?

The guy just takes pictures of average food and posts them on the internet.

If anything he just has way too much time on his hands.

I think it's obvious to everyone he has extensive professional training

He's just an old guy that uses all the shortcuts and recipes that your grandma used in the 50's and 60's when she didn't have enough time to prepare a proper meal. There's nothing wrong with that. But from what he's posting it doesn't seem like he has any formal training or he's a chef or anything.

It's amazing how much crap MD takes. He simply loves food and is genuinely excited about cooking. I haven't understood why people are continually questioning the content of his posts when it's exactly what you SHOULD expect from a food and drink forum. I find his input here to be very welcome and entertaining.

I know I come here looking for advice on how to fry an egg or make toast, I don't have time to go to culinary school so I'm glad someone is here to show us the way.

Agreed, Degas. I love his threads because they are delightfully lowbrow and he seems like such a genuinely happy man.

It can be welcome and entertaining. That doesn't mean other people can wonder why in the hell he would post pics of warming up beans.

I don't think MD is doing anything but doing what he loves, and that's cooking and taking pride in it. He is cooking in his home, and taking a lot of joy in it. To lose his input would be a huge loss.

His shrimp and grits thread wasnt bad, but when you post a recipe about warming canned beans, expect to catch as much shite as the fricktard that microwaved a steak

Yep. There's nothing wrong with friendly critiques when you're truly interested. There's a lot wrong with "nose so high up in the air you'd drown if it rained" comments. DON'T READ WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE AN INTEREST IN. This isn't the OT. When you see it's not your deal, just go to another thread. I don't open Taco Bell threads because I don't like Taco Bell. It's fine with me if someone else does.

I actually didn't care for that thread, but I think we need to differentiate the expectations here from paying for a meal from a so called professional with money you work for and expect professional, and cooking in your home.

Nobody really has to validate that to anyone. Fact is, if I had to place a bet, id say that most here don't cook nearly as much as MD does, and that in and of itself pushes the guy to the top of the list of valuable posters IMO.

Yeah, I would do something's differently, but it doesn't really matter. Now, if we're taking about something you pay for in the lines of a professional restaurant, the rules have now officially changed, and now it's up for serious critiquing, and with explanations and content, not silly shite.

I'm not afraid to admit I've seen something MD has done and incorporated it into some dish of mine. That's what's great about a forum. Open sharing of knowledge. I wish more people did picture threads, myself included.

I think the Pinto Bean thread was a bit too much.

Along with the burger thread.

But I like when people do pictures, so I don't have a problem with him at all. I just don't think all of his threads are jaw dropping, opening himself up to criticism.

I think some people take it too far, but that's their prerogative IMO.
