1. Mark Ingram: I think we can all agree, this man needs to step up to the big boy table. Payton obviously has belief in him that he can be our go to guy, but I think this next year will truly be the litmus test for that. I personally have the belief that he can do it. He's shown flashes of brilliance and then absolute nonsense. He either needs to step up or Payton will probably look back to the draft to get someone else or ask for some money back.

2. Zach Strief: I've never really been as down on this guy as others, but I am of the opinion he needs to step up or move down the bench. I think he's perfect for the "Is Eligible" role, but just doesn't have the chops to fill in fill time. I think hell get the chance to start, but we know Payton had had great success plugging in the next man up. Our next step up candidate would actually be my choice to slide over to the RT position.

3. Charles Brown: I have a feeling Brown will be the incumbent starter come training camp. I have no idea how ready Armstead is for the big time, but I think Payton would really like to get him some playing time. IMO he is the future at LT. I think Brown is alright, but he gets his lunch eaten pretty regularly by the better pass rushers. I think the theme around this years training camp will be competition, and this could be one of the biggest ones.

4. 3rd and 4th wide receivers: I'm really interests to see how the WR completion shakes out throughout camp. Colston and Moore are your solid 1 and 2, but what about after that? I think the most likely is Morgan followed by Toon and Stills. To me Morgan has shown enough that he deserves regular playing time, especially filling in Deverys role now that he's gone. The real fight will be for that 4th spot on a regular basis. Toon has showed a tendency to be injured and that might give an edge to Stills.

Unless Morgan gets hurt in TC, he's on the 53.

Everything you say is spot on.

As your review on both sides of ball point out, there's a whole bunch more questions on defense than offense.

I think that's the best role for him as well, but the problem is he gets paid too much to just play that role. Also, Jason Smith actually did pretty well in that role last year with the Jets.

3. Charles Brown:

I think he's an average to below average LT and average to above average RT. Nothing special but a good OL. That being said, I'm hoping Armstead is the answer at LT. That spot is wide open IMO. Don't forget about Smith though. He was a former 1st rounder who didn't pan out in St. Louis and didn't get a chance in NY. Maybe a passing team is where he can excel. I guess we shouldn't forget Jones who was hurt last year too.

4. 3rd and 4th wide receivers:

I'm really high on Stills. Fast and can catch. His highlights are fantastic.
And from what I've read, his dad and uncle were in the NFL and he already knows what kind of work ethic it takes to be a professional. I'm really happy he fell to us.

5. Jimmy Graham It's a contract year for JG. He had a lot of drops and actually lead the league in drops at certain points last year. He needs to step up his game this year if he wants to remain an elite TE.

6. Wallace/McCown/Griffin
We have only carried one back up QB into the season under CSP. Which one of these guys can step up and be that guy and who does ST want carrying the clip board and watching/communicating with Brees and CSP during breaks.

7. Bret Ingalls (Offensive Line Coach) When Kromer was handling the head coach duties, the OL play was very poor and you saw a difference as soon as they had a full time position coach. How is Ingalls going to handle a fairly well playing line in his first year in NOLA?

Yeah I think Strief is actually on the hottest seat out of anybody this year. He saves about $2.5 mil and if he isn't the starter we can't keep him for that.

True, he fits it well, but I don't think the Saints will be doing that anymore, barring injury or special situations.

SP already said that's one of the main reasons they brought in a combo blocker/receiver in Watson. "Strief is eligible" made those plays predictable/easier to defend.

I would think Armstead would be better suited for the eligible position. Didn't he actually do some of that and catch a touchdown or two in college?

If Strief releases...ehhhh.

If Armstead releases you actually may have a threat the defense has to cover.

Just a thought.

I'm hoping we end up with Armstead at LT and Brown at RT. Brown really came on before his injury and I think he fits well there. Armstead is a complete wildcard. He might be ready this season, it might take a few years. Definitely has the ability.

Did pretty good in 2011 and then got hurt last year. Could do well again if healthy.

Not impressed, but I'm hoping he can do well

I think Charles Brown is a decent player the problem is he cant stay healthy and that worries me because he might be the starting LT this year.
