Good games for certain but the writer must not know the meaning of the word rivalry.

although I hate the reason why we play UF, it has developed into a great series in the last decade.

And I feel it has made LSU a better team and better program. We had to elevate our play or get thumped on a regular basis by some great Florida teams. LSU accepted the challenge and made Urban and Tebow cry in Tiger stadium. They were a great team recently long before Bama's resurgence. In fact, Auburn also forced us to become big boys.

Alabama is now forcing us to take it up another level to compete with greatness. All signs are we are accepting the challenge.

I believe because we had to match and better Florida and Auburn is why LSU has the best record in the SEC over the last 10 years and was the first team with 2 BCS titles. And is the only team virtually even with Alabama in toughness, skill, speed. The chips have fallen their way as far as titles recenly but the two teams are a mirrow of each other and LSU easily could have won the titles with the breaks Bama has gotten (or taken).

Those are the 5 biggest current rivalry games but are not the 5 biggest traditional rivalries.

There's nothing "rivalry" about Alabama and A&M

A&M / Bama has The Bear and Coach Fran history.

Bear Bryant's name is going up on the new stadium.

Bama stole the Bear and A&M stole Fran (at the time was HUGE HUGE deal)

and "hurricane bowl" when Bama cancelled game despite perfect weather in CS due to "hurricane" but really they had their QB hurt. Game played towards end of year with QB back and Bama won.

give it a few yrs....LSU vs A&M will be biggest rivalry in the SECW.

But yes those are the 5 best matchups, not rivalry at all.

Should have heard them cry when Coach Fran left them cold when they wanted him to stay BADLY.

Im not saying its an LSU Bama deal of course - just saying there is some historical bad blood. If A&M beats Bama this year its getting there.

Might be true for older bama fans but ask any younger ones and they enjoy pulling for Auburn when they play LSU. This fall I can't tell you how many of my friends at school were pulling for auburn to knock off LSU that night in Jordan Hare with the game close late in the 4th. The hate/threat of LSU is definitely there whether acknowledged or not.

Yes - I agree - LSU / A&M is going to be a monster. The hate is still there from back in the day. Good Times.

When A&M beat LSU last year and then had their coming out party by beating Bama. You did know that A&M beat LSU last year, right? Beating the two big boys in the West and then getting a Heisman created a rivalry.

You lost me . The LSU TAM game I watched was won by LSU. Am I missing some sarcasim here?

God those A&M LSU games were fun. It was usually 1st game of the year. No warm up games - lets get it on now. I remember in Shreveport more than one bride making huge mistake of underestimating the importance of that game - and getting married in an empty church while the North LA clan headed South.

shite was fun.

for some reason folks are talking like this game will decide all of college football the next couple of years...

I think having on 9/14 takes quite a bit of luster away. The loser still has plenty of time to make up ground, unlike if you lose a big, key game in November...oh wait...

FIFY
Delusional Bama fans think they have no rivals or peers.
Reality can bite like a b*tch. I'm thinking it's time for that to happen, Bama.

Key word here. The players think otherwise.

Somebody said LSU v. Ole Miss is a rivalry? What a joke, it hasn't been a rivalry since Billy Cannon graduated. These days its like a D-1 versus a small Mississippi high school, and one decent recruiting class is not going to change that!

"What will 2013’s drudge match bring?"

What's a "drudge match"?
