I think that's right.

It seems to me that Brees would be restructured early if an emergency arises. Lets face it, what difference does it make if we extend his contract to where we're still paying after he retires. Chances are pretty good our next QB won't be making $20 mill a year and we'll absorb the dead money at that time (isn't that what the Patriots are doing with Brady????).

I don't know how accurate that is. He may have just looked at the 1st year of each deal and taken it out of our cap which would make this inaccurate as the top 51 rule is in play.

Vaccaro took up about $1.5 mil and each 3rd rounder took between $25,000 to $50,000(based off of last year's picks). Before we had $3.1 mil and we should have about $1.5 left.

Also, any vet minimum players would not take up any cap space(unless they get the $65,000 bonus, but it still wouldn't put us over) and I have a feeling a good bit of players will cave and sign on late in camps for the minimum.

Unlike Tampa, the Saints have never had that problem since Benson took over. The team has always spent all the money they had. At least they're trying to put it on the field.

Oh no. Benson was tight as hell when Finks was there. We spent a little on a great Def. and screamed most years for better weapons on Off.. They thought the Def would win us games which it did but we never had a consistent Off. to go with it.

It was the salary cap that got Benson to go all in on the budget.

Yaszy updated today and blamed his incorrectness on the nflpa even though he never says he got that figure from the nflpa:

He is also wrong once again about needing money to sign PS players. Most PS players get minimum, or very close to it, contracts. If any PS player(s) crack the top 51 it will only be for a sliver more than the guy they will replace.

I think we may be done with FA barring injuries and will likely roll that over to next year.
