Ask Minny how well "picking talent" works, considering they're stuck with Derrick Williams on the bench behind Kevin Love.
That's true, and there are a lot of teams like that (Hawks). But there are also teams where talent won.
It all comes down to "How much better is he than the next prospect."
And then you want to know, "Can he play 3? Can Davis play some 5 with him at 4? How will this effect Ryno or Smith's minutes?" Etc.

AD and Ryno are more talented at the same position.
I just don't see Bennett guarding 3s on the perimeter and I don't want to move AD to center and waste his versatility.

I've been screaming that we need to trade the pick.
What do you want to trade it for?
And what if we get the first or second pick?

Good thing you were able to ignore everything else I said and got stuck on that point.
You act like there was a lot of things to address in the ground breaking post.
quote:
No effort is needed when dealing in the truth. He was a backup combo guard on a first round contender .His own team traded their best player to replace him. He has never carried the offensive burden on a playoff team. What do you have? PER? Greivis provides more win shares.
Is he a "backup"? Yeah, sure. He left college after his freshman year, is 23 years old and played behind CP3 for 2 years and Mo Williams/Baron Davis his rookie year.
He's as much of a "combo guard" as any other PG in the NBA. I guess this carries a negative connotation?
Yes he's a backup PG on a first round contender. Boom I guess?
His own team traded it's best player (Eric Gordon) to replace him (Eric Bledsoe)? Bledsoe was a 21 year old rookie when they traded him. Paul was replacing Mo Williams and Baron Davis. Derp.
Then you want to compare him to Vazquez? PER, Win shares etc. Try and find an even playing field to compare them to, champ. We can wait until this year when Bledsoe gets a starting job.
You have a Jesteresque obsession with Vasquez considering you are the only one who thinks he is a all NBA PG

Exactly. He gets the benefit of playing against less talented players.

You're so full of shite your hair stinks. I am very realistic about Vasquez being an average guard. You are the one incapable of admitting the same about Bledsoe.

A starter that helps our team NOW. Not another project like this draft picks are.
The two I could stomach are Nerlens and Burke.

Bledsoe and Vasquez's stats are relatively similar in per 36 and Advanced last year (Bledsoe's PER was better, fwiw).
I haven't watched enough Bledsoe to make any kind of opinion on him right now. I just didn't watch a lot of Clippers. When I did watch him, he looked good to me, but nothing special.
I obviously did watch a lot of Vasquez and I know for a fact that he is just not that answer at PG. If he's our backup, we are golden, if he's our starter, we are fricked unless we have AMAZING talent around him.
Its just a question of who is an upgrade.

while Oladipo seems to be another Aminu, as he is very athletic and a good rebounder but can't shoot for shite.
Oladipo shot almost 60% this past year, while being 44% from 3.

Oladipo kind of reminds me of a young Dwyane Wade.

I showed you this in another thread documenting his defensive prowess.
quote:
Bledsoe started 12 games this year.
Some of the matchups:
John Wall- 13 points, 33%FG
Lillard- 16 points, 35% FG
Jameer Nelson- 16 points, 37%
Rubio- 9 points, 44%
Avery Bradley- 4 points, 25%
Lin- 12 points, 45%
Conley, 5 points, 18%
Curry, 10 points, 36%
and this
quote:
Bledsoe played 30+ minutes 8 times this season for a 35.9 MPG average. Below is his averages for those 8 games and where he would rank amongst 2013 NBA PGs:
14.0 PPG (15th)
6.4 APG (18th)
4.5 RPG (2nd)
1.9 SPG (5th)
1.3 BPG (1st)
84.6 FT%(9th)
40.6 FG%(30th)
40.0% 3P% (11th)
His PPG would put him in Dragic, Conley, Teague range.
His APG would put him in Curry, Lawson, Jennings, Lillard, Lowry range.
His RPG puts him in Westbrook's range.
His SPG puts him in Kemba, Westbrook, Ellis range.
His BPG already leads the league amongst PGs.
His FT% puts him in Irving, Parker, Lillard range.
His FG% is terrible. But it is better than Brandon Jennings.
His 3P% puts him in Irving, Mo Williams, Jack range.
It's what we have to go on. Again, I revert back to all the players who started their careers as backups. If players show flashes of brilliance coming off the bench, chances are they perform up to or beyond once they become starters.

One of the most misleading stats to me ever. I know it LOOKS spectacular. But watch him play. There is no doubt in my mind that the guy will struggle to score in the NBA.
Which likely means he'll be one of the GOAT.

The way you keep presenting those comparisons to other players are laughable. Sounds like a truck commercial. He is average at everything but defense. You want to sell the farm for average?

And my opinion on the subject is that Bledsoe is a marginal upgrade at best.
He's better on defense but is either roughly the same or worse on offense when it comes to shooting and distribution.
That may be worth a new contract to him, but not a new contract AND what the Clip Show will likely demand for him.
It comes down to "How can the team best use its resources to improve?" and my opinion is that getting a starting 3, improving at center, and/or flipping Gordon for talent are all bigger priorities than replacing Vasquez.

Darren Collision comparison is legit.

And if you look at his per-minute stats from the games he's started, his offensive stats are damn-near identical to those of Vasquez.

Im not comparing the players, Im comparing the situations. Obviously I dont think Bledsoe is a Kobe or Harden type player. It just goes to show you that sitting on the bench when you're young or behind great players doesn't mean you arent starter worthy.
You can compare him to Collison if you want. There games are nothing alike but that's ok
