Waiting for the Texas law student to reveal his true invention. Plastic detector.

If they got metal bullets through, the security people fricked up big.

They didn't have the firing pin in or bullets.

Gun laws are pretty strict in the UK, I'm sure they committed quite a few felonies without those two components.

But, that's the most intriguing thing in my opinion. A gun was printed in England, what does that say about the future of their gun laws.

So, they smuggled in a plastic paperweight?

In the meantime, I certainly look forward to billions more dollars being spent toward longer lines to get on planes while hordes of rude people search for these things in carry on bags.

That's a good point. In a total lockdown mode, cases and bullets are fairly simple to make. Powder is tougher, but it can be done.

They certainly don't appear to have much fortitude or they would've tried the complete gun.

Firing pin goes in shoe sole and bullets can go body carry or in a pen.

Meh.

What are they gonna do with a one round firearm that they couldn't do with a pressure cooker?

Proof of concept. That's all this is. But that means something symbolically.

What happens when the materials are strong enough to print a semi-automatic in a couple of years? Then it's no longer "How much damage can you do with a one shot gun?".

Cue the footage of the printed AR lower. Every other piece of the gun can be bought at Walmart. Not metal detector proof but no serial number.

Had a coworker bring mace on to a plane last week. She had two cans of mace/pepper spray in her purse. She totally forgot about, and no one said shite. It wasn't until we tried to go into the Capitol that security found it & threw it away.

‘The UK has some of the toughest gun laws in the world. Anyone wanting to manufacture or own a firearm, including one produced through 3D printing, would need a licence. Anyone manufacturing guns without a licence is liable to prosecution.’

Wonder if this applies to reporters.

So they didn't smuggle a gun in. What a newsworthy story

Hhhmmm..... last I checked, ammunition ain't plastic.

Haven't heard anyone yet on the freakout side of this debate explain how you get the critical part, the ammo, in with the gun.

They smuggled a gun, just without the firing pin.
