Crazy bitch couldn't accept she was fired. I hated her black woman with a chip on her shoulder and attitude character. Viv #2 was so much better.

She has since softened her stance on the idea of a reunion, telling TheGrio.com, “I would say to him [Smith], we need to heal this. You’ve done some things, you’ve said some things, that were totally untrue and you know that they were untrue. I’ve said some things that I probably should have never said ... I’m tired. Aren’t you tired Will?”

Now, Hubert is ready to move on. "We need to have a reunion, we have to end this horrible, 21-year war," she told "omg! Insider," adding, "I think we all owe each other an apology."

Viv #2 was definitely much better. Great way to put her in her place by casting someone who looked and acted totally different and having the show not miss a beat.

Now Harriet #2 on Family Matters was a totally different story...

Why do I not remember this at all?

I wonder if the reruns never aired the 2nd Harriet....

Hubert admitted that Smith did "some heinous, horrible things to me -- they were like bad kids, Will and Alfonso [Ribiero], especially Alfonso. He said that I was crazy and nobody wanted to go to lunch with me."

How heinous, how horrible!

It was only for like a season or two. The wheels had totally come off the show by then. Eddie was a cop. Stephon Ur-Kell was a full time clone and Laura fell in love with Steve. Total clusterfrick.

Didn't the series end with Steve in space and him marrying Laura?

quote:

But to the rest of the characters on the show, Urkel’s miracles are treated like annoying everyday occurrences. We never see someone at the end of the episode go “Steve, maybe if you work the kinks out of your machine that turns anybody into Bruce Lee you can sell it to the military and make a fortune.” It’s as if the other characters are purposely turning a blind eye to all the fricked up things he’s able to do.

quote:

Later when Steve proposes to Laura, she accepts because she can’t imagine her life without him. So how did Laura come to that conclusion? Earlier she asked Harriet why she married Carl, and Harriet said it was because she couldn’t imagine her life without him.

But it wasn’t the same Harriet we had known all along. It was a completely different looking woman who everybody had just been accepting as Harriet Winslow for the past few weeks. Could Steve have used his powers to change the Winslow matriarch into a woman who would say just the right thing to make Laura fall in love with him?

But that's what made Viv2 better. She was subtle and played her role like she should while letting the other more interesting characters shine. Viv1 was a whiny neurotic shrew who subjected us to whole episodes about her boring arse troubles with middle age and wanting to suddenly be a dancer when we never have a frick about her character anyway. Viv2 was John Stockton. Viv1 was Brandon Jennings.

Yup. Funny how she was just supposed to help her family out by gravy-training them some good grades in a class that everyone takes expecting an easy A. But of course she just didn't know her place. Just like the actress.

On another note:
quote:

The magic potions and incomprehensible inventions were all overt examples of Steve’s magical prowess. The real proof of Steve’s sorcery lies in all the covert ways he uses his powers to manipulate situations without anyone, even Steve himself, noticing. Like for example, the time he got everybody at a party to break out singing and dancing to a nonsensical “Urkel Dance” in perfectly choreographed unison. Or how about the opening credit scene where it took the strength of the entire Winslow family to keep scrawny Steve from opening the front door? Not to mention the ways he manipulated the Winslow family themselves. Like the fact that they used to have a younger daughter named Judy who up and disappeared without anybody even remembering she existed. Why would Steve get rid of her? To cut Laura off from her sister, the one person most likely to talk her out of marrying the weirdo dork next door.

That must've been the year Family Matters and Step-by-Step left TGIF for the CBS Block Party, which included Meego with Bronson Pinchot and Jonathan Lipnicki. That's about when I shifted to watching the Friday night NBA game on TNT full time.
