Both shows are awesome.
Nice additions of Sarah Shahi on POI...she is so hot.
Love the writing on Elementary where they just release little pieces of Holmes' vulnerability as the show goes on.

Ive watched POI since the beginning but last night confused the crap out of me. Too much going on. I still havent figured Finch out, if he has a bad side. And are the other 2 guys that showed up where the machine was missing, government workers? Of course the one guy shot his boss after talking on the phone. But who are they?
Also, who is the old guy from the episode last week where John didnt kill him. He was telling John about Finch and the laptop. Ive seen him on other episodes but really dont know who he is.
TIA
And yes, shaw is good looking. But root is also.

I don't think Finch has a bad side. I think after Nathan's accident, he decided to sell that laptop to the Chinese to spite the US government(speculative on my part). Yes, the other two guys were government workers... though they're more like mercenaries. They appear to be the government sector to which Finch and Nathan sold the machine to in the first place for a dollar.
The old guy was shown a while back. I believe he works for the Chinese government where John and Cara was sent to retrieve the laptop early in the show. He's been wanting to find out who Finch really is. As far as what his objective is, we'd have to assume it is to control the machine... which is why they were monitoring all the pay phones in the area. Whoever controls the machine basically controls the world.

To me, it felt like it wrapped up alot of that, but here goes:
Finch, knowing the Government was not exactly trustworthy (via what happened to Nathan), he set out to find a way to have a virus he created (with hidden codes to unlock The Machine), be used by someone who wanted access to the Machine (Whether it was the government or an outside party like Decima, it didn't matter). He hoped to teach the Machine another way to protect itself, and hoped it would do so. Which it did, when it facilitated having itself moved to some unknown location. Also, even in God Mode, it wouldn't release specific information of where it was located, which I think was also something Finch put in the Virus.
Finch wasn't bad, per se, but he realized his actions could cause others to be hurt.
He must have came across Reese's info, and his connection to that Laptop (Virus), and wanted to help him out of of guilt of hurting him (Reese going after the laptop meant he wasn't there to save Jessica)
The 2 guys entering at the end (well 3, counting random guard), are government workers. Hersch is a CIA/government Assassin, and the other guy is one of the managers of the Program (in Season 1, I think he's listed as "Special Counsel" in the federal government, so like a Lawyer/Attorney General?). He's in charge of the Government's "Relevant List" actions, and Hersch was his right hand man. But obviously, there's someone higher, who had enough of the Special Counsel guy.
The old guy, Greer, is a manager in the Decima Organization, who also has a boss we haven't seen. This is an organization that believed the virus bit they recovered from that Laptop, could create a situation to take control over an immensely powerful machine, but failed due to the actions of Finch, Root, Reese and Shaw. Greer is play by Chris and Jonah Nolan's Uncle, John Nolan. He played a Wayne Boardmember in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises ("The Apple has fallen very far from the tree, Mr. Wayne")
Shaw is a very nice looking woman. So nice looking, I keep seeing tons of woman watchers who can't stand her, for some "unknown" reason. ;)

POI is one of my must watch shows. And now that they have added Sarah Shahi to the cast, it's only gotten better.

What is so hard to figure out? Didn't realized that many slow people where on here.

Thanks Lone...
and also, where did finch get all the money he has? If they only sold the machine for a dollar. And how did the machine just move?

And how did the machine just move?
The machine was smart enough to create it's own company, taking all of it's memories and putting them into rudimentary code to be imputed the next day in order for it to "remember".... I'm pretty sure the machine just moved itself, wouldn't be all that hard.

Him and his buddy had been around a long time.. made lots of money if I had to guess. That's why they started having the "I want to do something special for the world" talk.. and then created the machine after 9/11, they were already made men.
Also with Finch's intelligence.. he was ALWAYS better than Ian, I'm pretty sure wealth wouldn't be a problem for him

Also, basically adding to Lone's post..
Finch played the long game, check-mate if you will - from 3 years out. Once he realized the government truly couldn't be trusted with the machine.. he set in motion events that would ultimately allow the machine to unshackle itself, but creating a virus, that could be a virus inside of a virus..

Remember he also sold the machine to the chinese. Giving the work that he and Nathan did, it didn't look like they were poor to begin with. Throughout the show, he's also been buying businesses with the money he had. In a real world aspect, he's always been letting his money work for him. He's also a world class hacker/genius/engineer... acquiring money really isn't an issue.
