re: Why LSU's 2014 recruiting success depends on CamRob

Afro, If you want to use quotes, mak esure they are mine.
And the first three ARE mine and underscore the concern here.
We DON'T seem to place the priority on OL that Alabama does and we should. Doesn't mean I like Ala or Saban, but itfyou don't think they do some things right, or even better than we do, it's illy to have this exchange.
How many of the players you refer to are on the OL? NONE!
One other question: when is the last time La. produced an OL who ranks in the top 10 players nationwide?

You're still kidding, right?
Ethan Pocic from Illinois last year? 3rd or 4th best OT in country? He no count?

Josh Boutte - top 100 player.

La'El Collins - Top 1 or 2 OT in country? He no count?

Brumfield this year? #3 guard in country? William Clap #6 Not good enough?

Dude...you don't hit a home run with every recruit. Some pan out, and some don't. Bama has had good luck w/ OL. We've had good luck w/ Dline.

La'El Collins. Consensus top 10 in every service. He no count?

What's the latest on Cam? Is he still 50-50 or favoring someone now?

La'el has great potential as well, but certainly hasn't turned into a dominant force we thought he would. Cam Rob is going to be at least as good and probably better than La'el. Having an OL like that is what enables the power running that we love. It is won and lost in the trenches and I really don't want to lose our best OL recruit maybe ever in the state to Alfrickingbama.

That's funny. Collins is a great player. Him and Robinson are both quality players.

It would be great to get him, but these guys are one injury away from never playing again. One player doesn't really mean that much on an 85 man roster. Would love to have him, though...

The real contest is over Cam Robinson who is the top OL this year and may be one of the best we've ever recruited.

so your saying everything depends on this one player on the offensive line and he will make or break this class even if we get the other 6 5 stars. come on mannnnnnn

we can't call this a successful campaign, no matter how many other good athletes fall in our lap.

Whereas the accusation made against you that you are obsessing on the most likely top talent to leave the state is based on nothing you said--only an assumption about which those accusers cannot know, your metric for "success" is too severe in my view.

It's is NOT true that CRob can be replaced by someone of equal talent; he's the best O-lineman in the country, another bogus assertion. And a LT of his ability is far rarer than superb safeties, who abound every year. A talent like LT CRob makes ANY running back more productive. Further a LT like CRob makes any QB more productive as well, protecting his blind side. As another poster said, games are won in the trenches and LT is the most critical along the O-line, though admittedly, they act as a unit. The LT is matched against Opp's best rusher. So your concern about losing CRob to our top challengers is not a case of obsessing over the most likely top talent to leave the state, but losing a LT who has no equal to sign in his stead. Isn't La'el draft eligible next year? So your concern is shared in this quarter.

On the other hand, if Fournette, Brown, Paris, Garrett, Jones, Willis, Dupre, Noil, D' Williams, Quinn and Blacknoll add their names to the other quality kids in this class, that is success with few if any equals. Ever. All of those 11 guys are 5* talent in my book. 8 are consensus 5*'s already or on the cusp. you will be hard pressed to find 8-11 5* classes in history. Even the University of Serial Cheaters doesn't do that in a single class. So that class would be a resounding success even if that list of 11 glaringly lacks an O-lineman, and especially the best O-lineman in the country. CRob would make this the best class in history, in my view. That 11-man list also lacks a QB, but as is the case with the O-line, we have other classes to cover it.

It offends me to think of a Louisianian of CRob's talent being abused daily by the ranting petty tyrant. Should CRob choose that fate, it will be its own punishment. That comforts me.

Thank you for your thread, nitwit, your usually well-considered thoughts and equanimity in that face of often gratuitously rude responses is appreciated.

So, yes, our effort will definitely be tarnished and job incomplete if we lose a "once in a decade", instate OL like Robinson.

Appreciate the exchange V-Ship.
Truth is not all posters are capable of exchanging views and expressing opinions, based on the facts and the merits.
Anyway, I hope we can all agree we want the Tigers to be as good as they can be, even if we disagree on the best route to success.

You mean the fact that you thought there was no Top 10 linemen in quite a while in the state of La. when there was one starting at tackle?

Nothing here is based on facts. Your comments are based on your ill-informed opinions. Nothing more, nothing less.

re: Why LSU's 2014 recruiting success depends on CamRob

I don't want to be lumped in with nitwit so I'm backing off after this comment

We are killing it recruiting this year with or without. It just seems so perfect if the best OL in LA in a loooong time came to LSU with the best RB in a loooong time. It also seems so hard to swallow if he becomes the next great OL at Bama who seems to be breeding them to the NFL these days.

I want to have dominant lines. Pocic and Robinson in the future just sounds so fricking sweet with LF running behind them and AJ throwing.
