or even El Paso.

lol wut?

San Antonio or Austin maybe

Yea El Paso, they've got 670K in EP proper, no major sports competition, can capture the West TX, NM, Mexico markets.

Add in Juarez and there's over 2Mil in the metro and the impact of hispanic players is a conduit for fandom throughout Latin America for the team.

Plus there's absolutely jackshit to do in El Paso to steal away fans like in Miami, Tampa, San Diego, etc. One of the factors to OKC's fanbase is it's the only pro game in town. OSU/OU basketball attendance has dropped sharply because of the Thunder.

Why would anyone living in Miami (or anywhere in south Florida for that matter) waste their time going to a boring baseball game??

Wayyyy better things to do than watch snoozeball

San Antonio has a metro of 2 million people and it's not riddled with cartel violence across the border. The only other pro team is the Spurs. San Antonio also has the same latin american heritage as El Paso.

They're going to trade Stanton away to them or Texas when the season is over.
I know the Marlins created their current mess, but to be fair given their current mess, trading Stanton is the right move Imo.

Why is trading Stanton the right move? He is 24 years old and making 537,000 this year. He becomes arbitration eligible in 2014. They should lock him up at what would probably be a decent value compared to his long term production.

The Marlins have top prospects to be good in a few years.

I'm talking realistic options here lol. Stanton isn't exactly happen in Miami, the odds of him being locked up are extremely slim.

They locked up Hanley before. They kept him until the last fire sale.

Of course, they were stupid for signing Hanley. He is a lazy frick with an attitude problem. It was obvious they should have paid to keep miggy. He was the second best hitter in baseball back when he was on Florida. He was chronically underrated in his time there. Pretty much no amount of prospects can bring you back a good return for miggy.

If there was ever a team that should be yanked out of a city..... This has to be it.

It's not Miami's fault... look at ownership.

Though, if they'd like to move to Nashville, by all means

Ownership is shitty but Miami has shown nothing to indicate it would ever be even a decent baseball town.

El Paso Cartel

MAKE IT HAPPEN

I actually think they would do better from an attendance standpoint out there than S. FLorida...but holy hell would it ever be hot.

Cause they consistently suck, fail to reinvest any money in their team, and trade away all their decent players. Way to gloss over that shitty owner part. Marlins are the official farm system of the Detroit Tigers. They're going to trade Stanton away to them or Texas when the season is over.

Loria wants the team to finish dead last, knocking attendance down to the point where he can move the team to Cleveland.

That isn't indicative of the franchise's quality. Those were the only 2 playoff appearances by the Marlins, and both were Wild Card berths. They have an overall losing percentage. This franchise isn't established like the Cubs, they're relatively new. When you're trying to build a fanbase, you need to keep a core group of talented players and have consistent scouting. They have failed to do that. I mean, I would love to have the Rays' GM. People went to the games last year and then the fire sale happened, they failed to reinvest money in the 2nd year of a new ballpark and people don't give a frick about them anymore.

It would also help to not bilk the county of millions of dollars. You should've just changed your username to Frick Miami
