If the Nuggets didn't play in that Denver altitude and get a few schedule wins every year from teams playing in back to backs would Karl still have won? He was 2 wins away from being the 5th seed. The Nuggets performed exactly as well as people projected, and he couldn't even implement a legitimate half court offense for them. Karl winning the COY is everything that's wrong with COY voting. Media members base it on the teams that outperformed their uninformed expectations.

Am I the only one who remembered the outrage earlier in the year when Hollinger predicted the Nuggets to finish second in the West? They have so much more talent than they are given credit for.

Karl is a good coach but the Nuggets need to part ways with him. Getting out of the 1st round only once in 9 years is not acceptable. If he didn't have the cancer ordeal, he would have been fired for such results. I had Woodson winning it. I hated Woodson at ATL and thought he was a mediocre coach but the fact that he got a team consisting of old farts lik Kidd, Camby, Thomas, Martin, and Wallace to a 2 seed shocked me.

Does Karl buy his own groceries?

I'll defer to Crichton since he also wrote the screenplay.

If you win close to 60 and loose in 6 in the first I'd say you are under-achieving.

LOL WUT? 6th seed and 35 loses? I don't think so. This is a regular season award not a post-season award.

A few weeks ago there was a thread talking about who should win the end of season awards. I think there might have been 1 person that said Jackson.

Some of the local radio personalities were talking about firing him the other day.

Will this be the first time a Coach wins COY and gets fired the same summer?

there for a while it seemed like getting COY meant you were getting fired within the next couple seasons so it wouldnt be that surprising.

Rick Carlisle, Byron Scott, Sam Mitchell, Avery Johnson, and Mike Brown were all canned within a couple years of winning it.

Coach of the Year goes to the coach who over-achieved not the best coach in the league. I have no problem with that.

The fact that Mark Jackson & Thibs didn't even finish in the top 3 is a joke to me.

It is so uncomfortable watching him talk after his surgery. I miss the tubby Karl from the Seattle days.
