I guess he didnt practice hard enough because AI put up better numbers all across the board.

not to hijhakc this thead, but the what could have CJ and Randy Livingston have been reminds of this long-time question----how many sll world high school guards came through LSU only to either (1) suffer an injury before his sophomore year and never be that good again; or (2) lose his shooting touch while at LSU?

Randy Livingston was nowhere near the scorer Chris Jackson was. Two totally different type of players. I did get to play some pickup games with Randy Livingston before he got hurt though and it was a real treat. It's a shame he got hurt. Talented but unselfish floor generals are pretty rare.

Chris Jackson didn't lose his shooting touch. He is considered one of the best free throw shooters in the history of the NBA.

Chris Jackson was amazing. I remember thinking that there could never possibly be another player as good as him.

He could have been a solid NFL kicker... Oh you mean that Chris Jackson. It's been said already, my bad.

I watched CJ play through his entire career at LSU and the guy was absolutely amazing. Watching the end of his career in the NBA was so disappointing. Seemed like he lost his love for playing.
I've never seen a player in my life with a quicker release from dribble. Saw so many games where it was tied or close at the end, one shot left. Everybody in the arena, including both teams and coaches, knew CJ was going to get the ball and take the shot. And nobody could stop it.

I firmly believe that CJ just didn't want to be that great. He never seemed passionate in the NBA, took plays off, and didn't stay in the best playing shape. Also, he was clouded by those publicity stunts and his radical beliefs.
Jackson came into the wrong team in the wrong era, his beliefs had nothing to do with, as much as LSU fans like to point to this.
Now the fitness things I could see as a valid point, but man guards like him did not succeed back then. He didn't have the handle like Mugsy Bouges, but he could out shoot most point guards of that era.

Watched Magic in person courtside when Michigan State eliminated the Tigers in Indianapolis in 1979, and had season tickets or was a student through almost all of the Dale Brown era. Magic wasn't head and shoulders above CJ at the college level, in fact, I think I might pick CJ (freshman year) over Magic for my college team. There was a separation at the next level for a variety of reasons, but I've never seen a college player better able to get a shot off than CJ. I only saw Pete play as a kid a few times-I think he was a so ahead of his time freak, it's like comparing Billy Cannon to some of LSU's modern day stars. He was just WAY ahead of everyone he played against.

He was incredible at getting his shot off the dribble. Seth Curry is doing this in that series as well. CJ was awesome.

Yeah he really shot himself in the dick with that maneuver. No one in American sports is going to tolerate disrespect to the flag.
That was when I was done with whatever his name was then....Albul something... I have 2 sons in the Marines and when someone disrespects our flag... demise is forthcoming...

The problem with that team (Shaq, Stanley Roberts, Chris, Maurice Williamson, Wayne Sims, Vernel Singleton) was just too many egos and not enough basketballs to go around. Chris would have been better off with a defense/rebound center who was a role player than he was with Shaq.
Chris had been by far the star the previous year, with only Rickey Blanton and occasionally Wayne Sims playing at his level. Going into the next year he still thought it was his team and that Shaq and the rest should be supporting him rather than challenging him for the leadership and spotlight.
Basketball is more than a collection of individual talents. It is truly a team game and everyone needs to know their role.

I saw CJ play a couple times and he was crazy good. Claiming he was better than Magic and Ai is just silly though.

Yes, I said that the other day. Curry is a taller version of CJ, but IMO CJ was a lil more athletic than Curry. Explosive hops he had for his size. CJ could have had a really good productive career in the NBA had he not got brainwashed with Muslimology.

The Haldol that Jackson used to mitigate his Tourette's made him gain weight in college. Haldol is an antipsychotic medication that can cause weight gain and lethargic moods.

I've seen Pistol, Jordan, Dr. J and Magic play along with other greats so Chris probably doesn't make my top five. Doesn't mean Jackson wasn't an incredible basketball player though.

He did hurt his ankle. I remember walking behind him one time and couldn't believe how thin his legs were. I think I was saying a silent prayer 'please don't get a leg injury'
That's why he stopped dunking.. Too much stress on his legs when he landed.

Not near as good as Pistol Pete! Pistol didn't have near as good supporting players as CJ had! I thought he was a complete arse HOLE for disrespected the flag. As a Korean vet CJ can kiss my arse!!!
