Purple Rain vs. Showgirls

So both of those movies were on cable the last couple of weeks, and they're both terrible, but which is worse?
I really didn't understand the plot in either, seemed like both just vehicles to sell songs or sex.

Purple Rain.
It might not be an Oscar winning movie but it's tolerable.
Showgirls was just terrible. I only saw it once and that was because I was the projectionist at the theatre here in town when it came out.

Purple Rain is an average, very bad movie. I love the scene when Prince tries to save his mom from his dad, his dad hits him, and Prince makes the most hilarious, girly squeal on the way to the floor. Showgirls is epically, awesomely, embarrassingly bad...it's a drinking game, punchline bad. One of the few movies, I feel personally awkward watching for the actors involved. I love it.

Absolutely. Between this and Basic Instinct, Joe Eszterhas solidified his place in the Pantheon . . .of something. I love when Elizabeth Berkley gets excited about buying "vur-sace".

I love Purple Rain, so I guess I am the outlier.
As far as a pop/rock musical, I like it better than Tommy and many others.
