i was disappointed with the lack of vision-obstructing lens flare

Looks quite different than the mental images I generated while reading the book. I hope, as is often the case, that the trailer doesn't give an accurate portrayal of the movie. I remember the book being mostly portrayed through the eyes and mind of Ender himself.

Yes, but I expected that.

Same here. Although we did listen in on meetings with Graff and his superiors. I'm afraid they aren't going to include the castle and giant video game.

I'm not going to watch any of the trailers. And they better have some fricking violence in this movie. Better not be Disneyfied.

I've already accepted the fact that it will be toned down to appease to the Hunger Games / Harry Potter crowd. If the movie was true to its mature content, it would have a "R" rating.

I'm cautiously optimistic after having seen the trailer.
They might have pulled it off.
It is just on the script and Asa if they could translate the internal struggles/monologue to film.
SPOILERS
And why the frick did they show the MD device being used in the trailer?
Especially THAT application?

thread hijack
A lot of jimmies may be get/be rustled in the gay crowd because the writer of the book (Orson Scott Card) is a devout Mormon and has made it known he's not cool with the Jason Collins and Ellens of the world.
/end hijack.
Never read the book, but the trailer did just enough to get me interested in the project. I'll need to see more before I decide that I'll see it in theaters.

It looked to me like that trailer showed Ender and Violet arriving on the colony post-war. If they do that, they kinda have to do the Giant.
I hope they get Bean right. Bean>Ender IMO and I want him to be as important in this movie as he really is. I wonder if they'll pull anything out of Ender's Shadow for use in the movie.

I kind of had this image of dirty metal and faded colors. Almost jail like. Not this bright, flashy thing. I get it, though.
It could be good. I'm not holding my breath, but I am crossing my fingers.
****SPOILERS****
Did they show the destruction of the bugger fleet? That's pretty wild they'd do that in the preview, but I guess only people who've read the book would know that.

Yea, but most of the people who know anything about this movie are book readers. Was disappointed to see that in the previews.

I must have read the book 20 years ago and loved it. I'm debating whether to read it again before the movie comes out.
Didn't this book have a sequence of dreams where Ender begins communicating with the bugger queen. Seems that I remember these dreams as being surreal and very important to the story. Am I remembering correctly? If I am, I hope they include these dreams in the movie and don't screw them up.

Yes, he was in communication but he didn't know it for awhile. It becomes even more important in the later books. Go ahead and pick the book up. It won't take long to read.

I can't find the link now, but I read the movie will by a hybrid of Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow.
That would also lead into the Shadow Series being made as sequels. The next few books about Ender while interesting to read get a lot more philosophical and are probably too slow to be made as movies for the general population.

I guess one way to keep people from spoilering the ending it to do it yourself in the trailer.
I fracking hate Marketing Idiots!

Hadn't seen that, thanks.
SPOILERS
A lot of the stuff that goes on After Ender graduates from Battle School until he meets back up with the Jeesh that's in Ender's Shadow would be good stuff that could show up. That and it lets you know what's going on at the other end of the microphone for Ender. His isolation in the book is a great device that keeps the reader in the dark, but I can't see it being as effective in a movie if you just see him and Mazer in a room for the whole war.
