It is to get women to watch. NBC knows (or any other network really) that men will watch regardless. So they add stupid shite to the program because they know men will watch regardless of the outside content.

False. If a woman wants to watch Sunday Night Football, she's not going to tune in to a 2.5 hour game just because Carrie Underwood sings a 30 second intro song. Do you know nothing about women?

ESPN had the best NFL product with MNF and managed to screw it up so bad that SNF is now the best. No more opening song, horrible game matchups, awful announcers outside of Gruden.
