Shrimp season is just around the corner for us in west la. I will be putting up large amount of headed shrimp this year.

Ziplock bags leak because the shrimp barbes poke holes. What type of containers do you use at home?

For cooking or bait?

Double ziplock bag works. I'd suggest deheading the shrimp.

For bait, I like freezing them in a Guidry's onion mix container. Works perfect

The barbes on the end of the tail poke the holes.

I have one.

First off, what ever you put into the bag must be completely dry, so you dry off a 100 qu ice chest of shrimp.

GFY

Plus I would go broke on buying papertowels.

Shrimp freeze best with the heads and without being washed. I like to use a milk containers. Fill with shrimp and water and freeze...

The shrimp I get are not washed and I head them before I put them into bags.

Do they stay good for a longer period of time with the heads on?

Go get the gallon water jugs. They're like .50 a bottle at Winn Dixie.

Maybe for bait. Dehead and rinse. Use a cola bottle. Just cut the top off. Put shrimp in and fill with water. Freeze it.

The citric acid remaining in the carton also acts as a preservative.
