We have to always ask these questions, because there are probably 100 restaurants that are good for couples.

What area of town? Budget? What kind of place/food?

The "best" for a couple are probably Restaurant August or Stella. This gets expensive and the food at Stella isn't for everyone.

You really have to narrow it down. I can name about 100 places fitting that description.

I posted this in another thread awhile back but I'll just repost it:

quote:

High End White Tablecloth:
August
Stella!
Le Foret
R'Evolution
Commander's Palace
Galatoire's
Bayona

High End Bistro:
Coquette (uptown)
Atchafalaya (uptown)
Sylvain (FQ)

Eclectic (more adventurous meals):
ROOT (high end)
Maurepas Foods
3 Muses (live music)

"New Orleans Style" Food:
Bon Temps
Ignatius
Mr. B's

Steak:
Mr. John's
Desi Vega's
Ruth's Chris

Charlie's

Seafood:
Casamento's
New Orleans Seafood and Spirits (Bucktown)
The Galley
Drago's (For Charbroiled Oysters ONLY...)

PoBoys:
Parkway
Mahoney's
Killer Poboys
Domilises
Tracey's

Vietnamese:
Pho Tau Bay
Magasin
Lilly's

Brunch:
Atchafalaya
Stanley
Elizabeth's

Neighborhood Style restaurants:
Katie's (MidCity)
Mondo (Lakeview)
R&O's (Bucktown)

Sandwiches:
Cochon Butcher (My favorite)
Wayfare
Milk Bar

Sushi: (you'll get a list of about 50 for this)
Horinoya
Sushi Brothers
Shogun
Chiba

Pizza:
Tower of Pizza
Ancora (neapolitan style)
Pizza Delicious
Domenica (my personal favorite Italian place)

Other Suggestions:

Rumhouse (Caribbean Taqueria, possibly the most popular restaurant uptown, very cheap tacos, good looking college girls...VERY popular)
The Joint (BBQ)
Sukho Thai
5 Happiness Chinese Restaurant

Specials:
Luke has 25 cent happy hour oysters
Coquette has a 3 course, 20 dollar lunch
Domenica has a great happy hour for pizza and cocktails

I've bolded places that I see as more "couple" type places.

There are also a lot of places I need to add, like La Boca for steak, Toups Meatery, Tan Dinh
