I'd rather it not be like that. I prefer a festival with some bands I really want to see and some that I'm not terribly familliar with that I want to check out. That's what festivals are about to me.

Headliners are just Lagniappe for me if there is a good one, they're typically a waste of time.

I agree with this. There's a lot of mid to lower level bands I'd love to check out

Like most festivals, there are some good minor/ new/ unheard of bands. But I would much rather see any band indoors with a good sound system than outside where the sound gets muddy pretty quick. Even if it hasn't rained. I'm going to see Black Angels pretty soon in an indoor venue. I've seen ShinyRibs a few times. As well as several of the other bands...Local Natives, TameImpala, KoL (suck balls), The National.......A lot of these bands will be playing Dallas shows so I'll just hit those.

How would you feel about hearing NIN play Pretty Hate Machine in its entirety?

I'd shite myself and smear it all over the place while laughing maniacally. Maybe not, but it would be awesome.

Looking at the full lineup, that's a lot of mediocre mixed with a few good acts.

Bands I'd really like to see:

Atoms for peace
Muse
Kings of Leon
Atoms for Peace
Phoenix
Wilco
Queens of the Stone Age
Local Natives
Joy Formidable
Bright Light Social Hour
Junip
Typhoon

Bands that I'm moderately interested in seeing:
Vampire Weekend
The National
Passion Pit
Neko Case
Divine Fits
Jimmy Eat World
Black Angels
Okkerville
Dawes - already saw them twice at SXSW
Smith Westerns
Desert Noises

All in all, this is a good festival for non-headliners. I'd go just to see QOTSA.

Wait, where does it say QOTSA are playing? They would make the lineup much better

Qotsa is like 3 lines into the lineup? Maybe 4?

And FYI I heart radio has their ACL station up and running. Pretty pop-centric so far, but its got me feeling good

What a terrible line up

Outside of Depeche Mode and Wilco it's just an ocean of so-so indie shite

No thank you

I encourage anyone who goes to check out Typhoon. They are a great live band.

Queens of the Stone Age
Arctic Monkeys
Phoenix
Portugal the Man
Franz Ferdinand

Not super impressed by the headliners, but I'd go for these bands.

Sidenote: maybe I am overestimating their US popularity, but AM should be considered a headliner especially with a new album on the way. Same goes for QotSA.

Wouldn't expect any different reaction from you. I know for a fact that you actually really like a lot of the bands in the lineup.

Glad to see Okkervil is playing. Makes sense, they have a new album coming out soon. My boss's brother is the drummer and the bass player used to work with me. The line-up is okay but nobody I'm just dying to see.

Yep, color me not impressed with that lineup. I certainly go look up the bands I'm not familiar with and listen to 5 or 6 tracks and try to find some live show videos and I'm not crazy about most of that line up.

it really is silly though

what festival lineup that has come out that the music board as a whole was like "OMG this lineup rules!!!11!!"?

it seems like no matter what the lineup is, there will be a very vocal group of people shitting on it.
