Questions about Omaha for people that fly there

I plan on making my first trip to Omaha if the Tigers are fortunate enough to make it. I already have a room reserved. I plan on going for just the first 2 games that LSU plays. What do yall do about plane tickets? Can I wait until we find out when we play and then get plane tickets? Prices right now are in between $450 and $500 a ticket. How much more will it be the week before? Is that even possible to do?

Prices will go up when that happens unless you don't live in LA

Drove it 2009, 16 hours from BR. Would strongly consider flying next time.
any input for flying into KC and renting a car, cheaper?

I've been twice and drove both times (16 hours from NOLA) so I'm no help. Good luck

If price is a concern, and it's only going to get higher as the games get closer, then I'd drive. Yes the drive does suck but oh well.

No way in hell I'm driving that shite. I can't be in a vehicle that long.

You're better off flying to Kansas City and driving IMO. Flights are much cheaper.

Sounds like you are on a budget, but if you have the time and a few extra bucks... see if the Royals or Cardinals are in town the days before and after you would be traveling. If you drive 2000 miles round trip, you may as well get your full fill of baseball. Well worth it.

We've driven several times as well from NOLA. Not too bad espcially like last time in 2009. The drive home didn't see long at all.

I drove all 16 myself last time straight through the night. I'll never do it again unless someone splits the wheel time.

We drove the 17 hours from BR to Omaha in 08 and 09, but I was a poor college student and really had no other choice.
If you live in Laffy you should look into flights out of Houston. I had a few friends fly to KC and rent a car and drive the 3ish hours to Omaha. Pretty much anytime you book a flight a week or so out you're going to pay the price, CWS or not.

I've flown into Des Moines, IA, rented a car and driven to Omaha.
It's about 140 miles and interstate (I-80) the entire way.
Takes a little over 2 hours if you drive the speed limit.
Des Moines airport is about like Baton Rouge's airport, small and efficient. Land, pick up your luggage, grab your car and you're off within 45 minutes. Probably 30 minutes if you have no checked luggage.
If you have never seen electricity generating wind farms, prepare yourself. Along the way at one point it's windmills as far as you can see on both sides of the interstate.

I made the drive in 09 and it wasn't bad, but next time I will fly. Spend the extra money and fly unless you enjoy taking long road trips.

The past few 2 times we have been, airfare prices went up as the start of the series approached
