I made a last minute trip Saturday evening with a padnuh to an oxbow off the Red River around Shreveport. Found some slabs stacked up way up under a boat house and docks. Ended up catching 30 between the two of us. 1/8oz jig heads on the bottom. I caught mine on black/chart and blue/white crappie beavers for the most part.

Water temp was 68-70, clarity around 1' vis., and the fish were in 3-5' of water. The key to finding them was shade. You had to get your bait way up underneath the structure or you wouldn't get bit.

This is my half of the catch:

Hah. Come on, I gave you water temp, visibility, depth, cover, lure color and depth of lure presentation.

I'm nice, but I'm not stupid.

Damn nice haul as usual. How was the wind? I was out that morning on a landlocked oxbow off the river and only caught 1 bass on a weightless senko. Held up in about 18" of water under a treetop. Wind picked up around 9:30 and had me in a bind trying to keep to the bank. Hopefully I can get with you and Salmon next weekend.

One day i will run into you ona body of water. You will have dropped your paddle into the lake. forever gone. You are helpless and hopeless looking for a savior.. i will motor up to you, drop the trolling motor down, and proceed to throw a zara spook all around your kayak.. As you beg me for a tow into the launch i will tell you that i remembered that day you wouldnt give me the location to them perches...

As i contemplate leaving you, my good will gets the best of me, and i tow you in anyway.

point is i will remember..

Wind was a bitch. I was anchored catching them. I tried messing around for bass when the slabs got lock jaw but couldn't feel anything on my plastics because the wind was so bad.

I am never without beer, so I'll be fine. Some things are worth more than being towed in, namely, my fishing spots.

In all fairness, it was a private oxbow so it wouldn't do you much good anyway. It was more to let others in NWLA know where the slabs are hiding. If they are in those spots on one oxbow, they won't be far off in another.

I used to have one helluva honey hole on a private oxbow. We slayed the crappie and bass. Not to mention bream and cats. Then it changed hands and our key quit working. It was a couple yrs before I could afford to buy it. Have made some offers to no avail. May try again now that the owner is bout to die. They don't even f$%king fish.

Yeah it was brutal man, I told Salmon we wouldnt be missing out on much since he had to cancel. I was fine with the N wind, drifting S. When the W wind started pushing me off the bank it got pretty aggravating so we hung it up.

Wasnt a total skunk though.

Thank you sir Shitty hoist, glare on scratched up phone screen, no feet in pic, etc.

Must have dropped the senko straight in its mouth, light hook set, then took off to the bottom of the treetop. Bastard made me work for it for sure. Only action for the day though.

Hmm. There aren't that many that fit your description. Pretty sure I know which one it is now. Interesting.
