Constitutional amendment to end sin taxes

yeah it's cool when it's tobacco and alcohol...but when it's bullets and soda you may start to get wary....when it's butter and processed foods you may start to get angry....when it's cable and internet usage then you'll want to kill.

flat sales tax with no targeting of product or industry....any problems?

Look up the Fair Tax Act. I support that tax plan, it incorporates what you are proposing.

I think high tobacco taxes actually spread the tax burden equally. Lower income individuals, who don't pay taxes and receive govt assistance, use tobacco more than higher income individuals. Therefore, they are forced to contribute to the programs in which they participate.

You'd better not tell a Democrat that or they will support and end to them.

But yet everybody benefits from the tax. I've always been a proponent of the toilet paper tax. Something we all, hopefully, use. If the govt. put a .5 cent tax per roll I'd imagine that would be a pretty good chunk of chump change in a year's time.

they die first and don't draw SS/Medi.

study out of Vandy showed that every pack of cigs is a net cost savings of $0.32

quote:

Vanderbilt University economist Kip Viscusi studied the net costs of smoking-related spending and savings and found that for every pack of cigarettes smoked, the country reaps a net cost savings of 32 cents.
