Any band that you are a fan of that had a member/members go solo or start another band that you actually preferred more than their original band?

One of the first that comes to my mind is Audio Slave > Rage Against the Machine. I love Rage, but Morello teaming up with Cornell was good shite.

It can even just be one song that you liked better. Wutcha' got?

I like queens of the Stone Age more than kyuss.

To be fair, I haven't really given kyuss a fair shake, but the sound isn't as accessible.

Brain dead from finals, so I'm drawing a blank beyond that...

Absolutely. RHCP makes music to fit with the lowest common denominator in mind, be it mass consumers or Anthony. Their style is very confining to John's abilities. He's a better lyricist and singer (my opinion) than Anthony. Plus, Flea often provides the more complex bass parts on John's albums.

That said, The Empyrean is a better album than anything in the RHCP catalog. Also, the depth and breadth of his studio/production work is extremely impressive (Warpaint, The Mars Volta).

Well, you have demonstrated that I clearly have better taste than you on numerous occasions, so your opinion is invalid. Anthony Kiedis is the rock version of Cowboy Troy. He can't rap or sing well, so he combines them into a cheesy amalgamation.
