My only experience with ME is that I played me2 halfway on ps3 before getting distracted and never finished it.

I was upset that I didn't get to play part 1 on ps3.

So this weekend I found all 3 separate games for the 360, starting it after I finish injustice.

Am I in for a ride or is ME1 too dated now?

TIA

frick yeah. Just prepare for a disappointing ME3 ending, though, depending on how often you play, could be anywhere from 2 weeks to months away. Everything leading up to it is amazing. Definitely not dated.

Since you never finished the second one I think you'll be ok. Combat/inventory/mako are the worst parts but it's not unplayable.

disappointing

Make sure you download the free Extended Cut dlc for ME3. I swear the rage monsters for the endings got that way because someone else told them they were disappointed before they saw them on their own.

I avoided all ME3 spoilers until I played it. It legitimately sucked. And I didn't much care for the story of the final ~20 minutes, either. 1/2 and 3 up until the very end easily make up for it, though. I've yet to see the extended endings.

And yet you don't even mention the extended cut, only an ominous warning. Damn you are bitter

I just started 1 earlier myself. I am looking forward to getting into this game. It's dated enough that I can play it on my laptop which is good because I will be traveling a lot this next month.

Best franchise of this generation. The trilogy is much better than most haters would have you believe.

mass effect 1 probably has the best story

mass effect 2 has the best replay ability

mass effect 3 has the best gameplay by far.

ME1 has the best story by far, IMO. The others improved on combat greatly. And the invetory system in ME1 was a pain, as previously mentioned. But I still think its the best one of the three.

ME1 is available on PS3 now, I believe. Didn't they release the full trilogy not too long ago?

Yep, ME1 was held back from PS3 because it was published before EA acquired them (iirc). They got that shitty comic.

I don't know if this is odd or not, but when Mass Effect 1 came to the Playstation 3, I felt like the machine was finally complete, as if order had been restored.

I already said I haven't seen the new version and don't know anything about it. Maybe their extended version is the best ending since Shawshank Redemption, I wouldn't know. The only one I experienced was shite, though, and I'm not going to re-rent the game and install the updates just to see the new version.

Best of the trilogy by far. The fights may get a little repetitive at times and the item menu is pretty bad, but the story is awesome and the characters are great. Some people thought the Mako (vehicle) was stupid, but I liked driving that thing.

Gameplay time depends on how much you get into the game. GameLength.com has the average at 29 hrs. and the maximum around 70 hrs. I was the 70 hrs.

Mass Effect 2 definitely made both the graphics and the controls much better. The story was also extremely well done. Additional characters that had great personalities that you could really connect with and an enemy that was topnotch.

My only complaint about Mass Effect 2 was that the game became much more linear. The Mako was removed from the game, so no more driving and shooting.

Searching planets was reduced to a scanning minigame that got extremely repetitive after a while.

Also, the more impressive scenery in ME1, namely the Citadel, was shrunk down significantly.

I will say, the end level of ME2 is one of my favorite gaming experiences. You get to involve your entire team and choices affect who lives and who dies. It was perfectly done, IMO.

As for game length, average is about 38 hrs. and maximum is about 72 hrs. If you decide to play ME2, make sure to download the Lair of the Shadowbroker DLC. It is a pretty cool mission that adds some cool info to the story.

I have a reputation on this board for hating this game. It fricking sucked.

Most people had problems with the end. I had problems with the entire game. About 1/2 way through, at a specific event that I won't spoil for you, the story just decides to take a massive dump on a major decision you make in the first game. After that, it just went downhill. There are a couple great scenes in the game (i.e. Mordin), but they don't come close to making up for how much they screwed up everything else.

And then on top of that, they give us the worst ending in video game history. ME3's ending was basically the polar opposite of ME2's. The entire premise of the game pretty much gets thrown out the window. The DLC ending is nothing special either.

Also throw in a completely retarded MP and a stupid attempt to tie the MP into the main game via "War Assets".

fricking EA.

If I were to rank these games:

Mass Effect 1 and 2
5/5 Scruffys.

Mass Effect 3
5/5 DAMN IT TO HELLS
