David Ross 4th home run, 2nd career steal today. Red Sox looking to go to 9-3 in games he starts.

Fourth visitor ever to hit a ball into Texas's club level. McGwire, Longoria, Trumbo. And off Darvish

People paid to see Bryce Harper play. No one paid to see that guy umpire, and he was looking to throw out Harper.

I hope Davey got ejected too

Well that was the easy move. Next week when heyward comes back is when it gets interesting

gonna have to cut Laird right?

Ramiro Pena is our Omar Infante this year
Jordan Schafer has been solid as shite

Those are the only two others that could possibly be expendable

Don't like having to do that but, yeah, that seems to be the logical move.

He won't be out of work long.

It is not the logical move at all. He has a two year guaranteed contract. He's one month into it. When McCann walks, he'll be the backup catcher next year. It would make no sense to go out and sign another one.

unless, and hear me out, we let Mac play a majority of games until Heyward gets back (which I assume he will) and show him off...

Then if Mac is still doing well at the plate, option Gattis to AAA for a week until we can find a proper suitor to trade Mac to

Say Detroit wants a catcher to make a run...Avila is batting below the Mendoza line...we trade Mac for a bunch of prospects and then bring Gattis back up

Why would we trade our best catcher in a year when we're trying to win a World Series?

We either DFA Schafer or send Gattis to AAA. The only other option is releasing Laird, which as Whitie said doesn't make sense.

DFAing Schafer is easily the best option.

McCann won't be traded.

Because we lose McCann at the end of the year anyways...why not get better value than a draft pick?

The Braves are trying to win, they aren't sellers. McCann is vastly better than Gattis.

That would be a great move if we were the Astros, but we want to win now

Because McCann is much better than Gattis.

Not like you are going to get a lot for 5 months of McCann right now anyway.

Just doesn't make sense to make your club worse unnecessarily when you all you have to do to make room for Heyward is cut loose a sub-replacement level player in Schafer.

And the Braves don't have to cut Schafer immediately. They can wait until around August so Gattis can get more at bats and be better suited for a bench role

Agreed, but I want Schafer gone as soon as possible.

The longer he sticks around and out-performs his ability, the more likely Fredi is to give him more key pinch hit opportunities, spot starts over better options, etc.

But then if there's another injury Fredi would have the chance to do that with Constanza
