The tracks were a shortcut for us as kids in my home town. It's fun too!

It's trespassing on railroad property and they have actual railroad police who do enforce this though it is rare. Parish and city police can enforce it also.

And for the cop bashers, no that isn't the purpose of railroad police.

I had a run-in with them when I was maybe 13-14. My buddy and I found the perfecr summer job of riding out three-wheelers, (yeah, I'm old), up and down the tracks and gathering all those iron spikes that apparently vibrate out of the tracks and selling them as scrap iron. He was a real prick, he kept telling us that we could go to actual prison. The local Sheriff was a close friend of my family and the railroad cop very nearly got his arse beat at the Sheriff's Dept. Oh yeah, the sweet and sunny side of police corruption.

You shouldn't do it

My friend and I were hiding under his front porch when his brothers friend was talking about a guy that got killed by a train and the body hasn't been found

So we decided to find it first. Almost got hit by a train while crossing a bridge. Fat frick of a friend decided to crawl all the way across. Had to cross a swamp, which had leeches and shite. Then we go all that way and find the body but didn't claim it :-/
