I think you have to consider it on both sides. Obviously for Boston, it's a no brainer. For Clippers I'm considering it mainly because our best season in franchise hx got us a first round exit in the playoffs, and I don't think a core of CP, Griffin, and Jordan would get it done.
They need to switch things up if they want to advance. It's just a question of how much they're willing and able to switch things up.
If they are scared that CP3 will walk to Houston or Dallas, they may be desperate enough to keep him that they'd roll the dice for the next two seasons in hopes of a title rather than sink back into mediocrity.

And I have to disagree...the Clippers would chose Blake 10 times out of 10.
Maybe they think they can keep Griffin the rest of his career, and in that case 10 years of regular season ticket sales > 5 years of playoff revenue, but if they don't keep Paul I think Griffin is playing somewhere else in 5 years.

I think it's just Screaming A wanting to hear himself talk.
Why do you say that?

I think the other main selling point of this trade to Paul would be freeing up a max salary slot for Melo or LeBron in 2014.
I didn't even think of this, but that makes this trade that more interesting. They can still contend with CP, KG, and Pierce for a year then going big the following year.
I said Friday night that we will be wishing they would have advanced come Monday night.
This is why. Seeds of truth wrapped in... something else. The flailing and gesticulation of a hopeless franchise with a pathetic taste of success... we know what that looks like... and people trying their hardest to cash in on people who care, either genuinely or in a shallow 2k sense.
Breathe deep before it gets deep in here.

HEY NOW!!!
As far as Boston is concerned, I was listening to a Boston writer on the DP show today (the guy who voted Melo for MVP . . . which, by the way, was not really a stupid vote). Anyway, this guy suggested that they may blow up the team and rebuild around Rondo. Although he acknowledged nobody really knows at this point.
Happy to pass along that valuable information.

If CP3 doesn't come back and Blake thinks it is because the Clip Show front office drops the ball, he'll force his way out well before that contract expires.
I'm pretty sure Blake signed an extension on his current deal, rather than waiting until after the 2013-2013 season, on the agreement that CP3 would be kept around.
He won't be happy if he's stuck there while CP3 walks.

How so?
If we are basing MVP off who is the best player in the league this past season, it is clearly lebron.
If we are basing MVP off of who was more important to their specific team it still lebron, with arguments for maybe being CP3 or Durant.
Melo shouldn't be the MVP any way you slice it.

Take Lebron off Mia and they still make the playoffs in the East. Can you say the same for Melo and the Knicks?
ETA: If I did have a vote, I'd vote for Lebron, but Melo getting a vote isn't absurd.

I think its a bigger leap a team of allen, bosh, and wade couldn't make playoffs in east.
Bron is best in league but lets not act like those 3 suck

They'd definitely make the playoffs.

Yes.
The east sucks and the Knicks still outscored their opponents with melo off the floor. Not true for the MIA.
However, MIA not making the playoffs without bron is absolutely laughable. They'd be a 4 seed at least.
The Southeast div consists of the Heat, Hawks, Magic, Wizards and Bobcats.
They still win that division easily without bron.

Interesting....

Can't really argue that. It comes back to the East having no depth.
My point is that there is no way of saying they'd definitely make it. Maybe without Lebron, Wade gets overused and his broke legs give out. You don't know, so saying they'll make it unequivocally is kind of silly. Assuming all other things equal, sure, but this isn't a controlled laboratory experiment. You just don't know how the cookie would crumble sans Lebron.

Yes it is. A first place for melo is completely absurd. Applying any standard for MVP still puts Lebron at the top and if not him, Durant or CP3. A melo-less Knick team is still better than a Durant-less Thunder and a CP-less Clippers.
Melo has no business getting a 1st place vote.

Of course you can't say with 100% certainty, but are you really saying that the Heat with Wade and Bosh would have a losing record?
The Bucks finished 38-44. Do you really believe that Heat team without Bron would win 37 or less games?

Anyone else think Manning was MVP the season he was out?

All things equal no, but I do truly question if Wade could carry the load for a whole year. He tends to wear down.

Andrew Luck says no...
The loss of Manning was exacerbated by no depth at QB. They basically went from Manning to a scout team QB.

I think you are discounting Bosh too much.
He is a top 5 PF in the league. His numbers aren't what they'd be if he was on a number of different teams, but the talent and ability are there if he was needed to contribute much more than he currently does.
