Islam- A Political History Thru The Ages From Dr Bill Warner

Why We Are Afraid. Yeah it's long, 45 mins on political Islam and their wars on Christians. Well worth the historical education if you can take the time to watch this. Islam's 1400 years of conquests on Christians.

couldnt make it past the first minute. looks like it was filmed in his bedroom, and in the first few moments he makes sure people know his books are "factual, they work here (points to brain)."

a quick google found little info on the guy outside his own website.

This Dr. Bill Warner is no authority or scholar on Islam. Using "we" in his title (Why we are afraid) is a clear give away that he has picked a side and is approaching the topic in a biased manner.

Second, just because people who are Muslim have attacked Christians (vice versa is equally true) does not mean Islam inspired them. This is the concept of "othering." It's when someone sees something different about another person or race and automatically attributes actions to that difference. In most cases, this difference is greatly exaggerated.

Thankfully this man is wrong. If he was right, Christians or the West or whoever would have a truly global ear against 1.6 billion Muslims. Clearly this is not the case.

If you want a historical book on Islam as a religion, pick up "No god but God" by Reza Aslan.

Books by both Noah Feldman and John Esposito are good for the more political side of Islam.

Yeah right! I guess this is well wishes?

Qur'an 88:1 "Has the narration reached you of the overwhelming (calamity)? Some faces (all disbelievers, Jews and Christians) that Day, will be humiliated, downcast, scorched by the burning fire, while they are made to drink from a boiling hot spring."

Qur'an 98:1 "Those among the People of the Book, who disbelieve and are idolaters, would never have been freed from their false religion if the Clear Proofs had not come to them. An Apostle of Allah came reading out of hallowed pages.... They were commanded to serve Allah exclusively, fulfilling their devotional obligations, and paying the zakat. Surely the unbelievers and idolaters from the People of the Book will abide in the Fire of Hell. They are the worst of creatures."

Ishaq:364 "Muslims, take not Jews and Christians as friends. Whoever protects them becomes one of them, they become diseased, and will earn a similar fate."

Qur'an 5:17 "...Say (Muhammad): 'Who then has the least power against Allah, if His will were to destroy Christ, the Messiah, the son of Mary, his mother, and everyone else on earth?"

Qur'an 5:35 "Believers, fear Allah and seek the way to approach Him, striving hard, fighting Jihad with all your might in His Cause that you may be successful. As for the disbelievers [previously defined as Christians], if they had everything on earth, two times over, to give as ransom for the penalty of the Day of Doom, it would never be accepted from them. Theirs will be a painful torment. They will desire to get out of the fire, but they shall not be released from it. They shall have an everlasting torture."

Qur'an 5:80 "You see many of them allying themselves with the unbelieving infidels. Vile indeed are their souls. Allah's wrath is on them, and in torment will they abide."

Snagging verses from a site is dangerous. Picking and choosing verses is how some Southern Christian congregations used religion to back slavery. I don't know if you're Christian or not but if you are, that thought should give you pause.

Also, Christians and Jews in lands conquered by Islamic majority people were given dhimmi status or that of a protected minority. They needed to pay an extra tax and churches and synagogues could not be taller than the local mosque but all things considered it wasn't a bad deal, especially for those times.

And you made a part about Christians going to hell in bold. Are you actually surprised or upset that a religion thinks those who aren't a member of the congregation are going to hell? Catholics say the same, as does just about everyone else.

Muslims thought of Jews and Christians as muddling the word of God. Muslims think of Islam as the purer religion God. For that reason they do condemn them somewhat-similair to Christians and Jews. As mentioned before, they're all Abrahamic faiths, Muslims just think their form is more pure. I'm sure I could pull some pretty alarming quotes from the Bible.

Just read the gospels. Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life. No man shall receive the Father unless he receives the Son.

If you don't accept Christ as your personal savior, you're going to hell.

What if you have never heard of the name Jesus in your entire life, are you still going to hell?

Instead of assuming what the Chuch says about Muslims why not just quote them:

" "
quote:

The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day" (CCC 841)

I seriously doubt that you will find as a conciliatory statement in Islamic writings toward Christians.
