Every single one tells me rap music is unique with story telling?

Really? You can pop in a Pop/Folk/Blues/Rock that tells a story.

Yeah, so?

I like folk, blue, pop, and rock story songs. Which is why I like hip hop songs which do the same.

by listening to pop/folk/blues/rock you would never have heard the story of Dave the dope fiend shooting dope, who don't know the meaning of water nor soap

First off...most all of my friends and I like pop/folk/blues/rock in addition to rap. But I'll try to explain.

For one, I just like shite that rhymes. Obviously most songs do but rap usually has more.

The same way I like a good guitar riff or solo or whatever I like the beats in rap songs. Some beats in rap songs can put me in a good mood by themselves.

I'm younger...and most young people can relate to rap songs. Obviously not the killing and raping and shite that's in some of them but there are tons of topics we relate to in the songs.

Places I hang out and enjoy play rap music. They kinda signify having a good time. I recently started going to a little Irish pub in my town and low and behold, I love me some Irish music now.

And part of it for me is how much content there is in a rap song. It seems like other genres are filled with shite lyrics. They write a few kindergarten level sentences down then play the catchy chorus. And for some reason the 3rd verse is like 4 frickin lines. Rap is like poetry to me. Other genres tend to be so basic and have no unique qualities.

Good for you. The good thing is you don't have to listen to it. Sometimes people have different opinions and interests.

Way to show your ignorance. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

I was in agreement with you until your last paragrath about "kindergarten level sentences" describing pop and rock music. Rap has BY FAR the dumbest most childish, elementary lyrics of any music genre with almost all rappers going out of their way to write lyrics that "rhyme" regardless of whether they make any sense whatsoever. See ANY Lil Wayne song

I am ambivalent about rap but I don't understand why it's the only genre I have to hear at every stop light. What is it about rap that makes the listener play it obnoxiously loud?

Ignorance? I used to listen to rap then I grew up. There is a lot of good hip hop out there but I assumed he was talking about mainstream rap i.e. whoever fits the Lil Wayne/drake mold

I dont see how this can even be debatable... I dont have an issue with rap, though I dont listen to it... every now and then I like a song I hear...

but I cant think of another genre that is rife with ignorant shite like this
