Well yes, the plan was for Mathieu to return if he got his shite together.

Here is the problem...it shows lack of leadership because it was a starting quarterback, you're leading rusher and (although not an arrest while as a member of the team) a returning heisman trophy finalist.

I don't care if Rocky Duplesis got caught buying meth in Denham from a 14 yr old tranny chicken head.

Mathieu, JJ and Hill are different. Like any stat, sometimes the truth is a little deeper than the stat itself.

I'm not saying all the crying is justified, but when it's three high profile players like this with arrests or conduct issues, it's going to feel/look different.
