How does the board feel about free courses online?

From the board's perspective, what is your thoughts on programs like Coursera? If you were hiring, would you be indifferent if the candidate had furthered their education through one of these programs, or would you see this as a positive for them?
A little background:
I have identified two courses of interest to me that will be taught over the summer on Coursera. If I were to join the program, I would not take both but I would choose one that best fit with my schedule. There is material I wish to advance my knowledge further in that is offered through Coursera. The courses are within my area of expertise so it would not be completely unrelated to my day-to-day career. Although this may lead to me taking courses that are unrelated to my day-to-day if I feel it is a success.

If it's free, you have time and you will learn valuable informatoin, what is the draw back? If nothing else, you can talk about it in your interview and show off that knowledge.

That is what I figured. I really don't have the drive to go back to college and drop everything. I really don't want to become stagnant either and not continue to my personal development.

Nothing wrong with it at all. The only problem with online courses is that there isn't really a way to certify that you took and passed the course.
One could argue that university grades have their own problems but that is a separate discussion.

It doesn't seem like something to include on a resume but could be a slight positive in the interview if brought up in the right context.

not sure what kind of courses youre talking about, but Aswath Damodoran (a well known professor at the NYU MBA program) offers two of his classes for free via iTunes U... obviously you get no credit and this would purely be for your own benefit.
the courses are corporate finance and valuation, he is a PHENOMENAL teacher and the itunesU app on iPad is brilliantly well put together and easy to use.
