It doesn't have anything to do with anybody "deserving" a spot in the rotation. Mainieri started McCune Sunday to see if he had graduated and was ready to be a starter in a pressure game. Unfortunately the answer right now is NO. I commend the coach for thinking ahead. These coaches don't just play for today...they look at the big picture.

yeah, I do. It wasn't an obvious one but I thought Glenn running deep into the counts was showing he was running out of gas. No matter, we won and I was making more a comment on CPMs timing in general more than last night.

Yep, I was typing and thinking too fast. Breg/Katz both singled.

Pitching Glenn worked out. Now let's get more than 3 runs this time around. That'd be nice.

You're probably not going to get many people admit they were wrong about last Sunday. Especially people who have never coached a baseball game at any level (or even put on a jockstrap) while they second guess a coach who was elected to the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame three months ago.

I assumed when he started McCune on Sunday that he was doing so because he wanted to start Glenn the following Thursday. I wish Glenn could have started both games, but that's too short of rest for a college SP. He did the right thing, considering that we have 2 more Th/Fri/Sat series to finish out the season.

CPM is human to just like everyone else. He made a mistake starting McCune when he wasn't ready but he learned from it, started Glenn last night and got the win. Now lets go take over Omaha again!

I don't think that is the case. McCune would have started Sunday at Alabama if not for being needed in the extra inning game.

I wasn't the case. He said on the radio pregame that the Glenn start decision was made due to the rain and that the lefty was going to start Saturday otherwise.

is there anything worse then trying to talk baseball and someone has to be the guy who says "oh i bet you think you could do better, are you in the coaching hall of fame?"

i mean isnt one of the main appeals to baseball is on any given night there are literally 100s of different 50/50 scenarios that could arise and people like to debate about how they would handle certain things. jesus give it a rest already with that you think you are better than the coach tagline. sorry thats the end of my soapbox.

And so I express my opinion and you criticize me for doing so, right?
